From the publisher:

All Janey Mackay wants is to put her painful past behind her. It's time for her to be her own woman, but her big brother Natches, is still overprotective. And he isn't the only one...

Since he saw Janey Mackay taking a dip in her bikini, Major Alex Jansen has had to quell the fire she ignites in him. Even touching her would mean death at the hands of the Mackay men. Until now, the girl of his dreams—and fantasies—has lived in a vacuum of affection, shying away from the danger she thinks men represent. Alex sets out to prove her wrong, with his tortuously slow caresses.

Everyone thinks Janey’s safe now, with her abusers dead. But when someone starts leaving spine chilling notes, Alex won’t rest until she’s completely safe. And completely his—body and soul…

Review:
Janey Mackay, daughter of a traitor and sister to a patriot, has returned to her small hometown where she has been ostracized and condemned for her family connections by the community, while at the same time struggles with the feeling of being an outsider and tries to establish a relationship with her family and gain acceptance from those she loves.

By managing the restaurant her father owned she hopes to gain the freedom and independence previously denied her, when a stalker threatens her very existence. When the danger to her is discovered
Janey chooses Alex as her protector. Alex has secretly been lusting after Janey for years, but out of respect for her brother Natches, and his apprehension about their age difference, he has resisted these urges. Emotional conflicts, unknown danger, and steamy passion ensue.

Lora Leigh does not disappoint in this newest installment of the Nauti Boys series. It has all of the elements of a great romantic suspense novel, though it is categorized as an erotic romance. The reader gets updates into the lives of the characters introduced in previous titles, while telling Janey and Alex's story. The book contains many emotional, steamy, sexy and scorching hot love scenes, with the perfect blend of intrigue, and suspencefully dangerous moments that makes this a late into the night, bleary-eyed for work the next day, sad to see it end, can't wait for the next one page turner. If you can't tell, I LOVED it! The only downfall is that we the readers have to wait until 2010 for the next book, Nauti Deceptions :(

Danger...more of a suspence than a romance

Danger in a Red Dress by Christina Dodd (Fortune Hunters #4)
Romantic Suspence

From the publisher:
A riveting family drama unfolds as New York Times bestselling author Christina Dodd completes the Fortune Hunter series with a novel that delivers secrets, lies, and passion

Down on her luck and desperate for work, beautiful Hannah Grey finds herself in a mansion on the wild Maine coast, caring for a lonely elderly woman. On her deathbed, she entrusts Hannah with a dangerous secret. Now Hannah's on the run, pursued by killers, and desperately needs the one man who can keep her alive.

Gabriel Prescott has hunted for a home his entire life. Now he's on the verge of finding his long-lost family. Only one person dares to stand in his way -- Hannah Grey. Yet the delicate, determined woman who threatens his search for truth may be the only woman who can save him.

Review:
Hannah Grey, an in home care nurse on admistrative leave due to a pending investigation, is hired and coerced by Carrick Manly to take care, and spy on, his invalid mother. A mother who is hiding a secret about a stolen fortune worth millions. Hannah befriends the surly Mrs. Manly, but Carrick believes she has ingratiated herself with his mother to steal her fortune too. Carrick hires a security firm owned by Gabriel Prescott, who unbeknowst to him is his half brother.

Gabriel is hired to observe Hannah, but takes the case to learn more about his secret brother. He quickly becomes enamored and obsessed with the seemingly moral and altruistic Hannah, but questions his instincts and her innocence due to his jaded perception.

I have been eagarly anticipating this book for a while, as it concludes both the Fortune Hunters series and the Lost Texas Hearts series. Gabriel Prescott has been a mysterious character in many of these previous stories, and thought that Danger in a Red Dress would be his story. However, the story focuses more on Hannah than on Gabriel. I was somewhat disappointed in this choice. That being said, the reader is instantly intrigued with Hannah and her story.

This was a fast paced story, that was more of a suspence, than it was a romance, which is what my only criticism for this book would be. I think a reader has certain expectations when reading a book in series like this one. You expect that the new book will follow a similar formula as the previous ones, that makes it cohesive, and builds on what has been previously established. I didn't feel that that happened with this story. Much the same way I felt after reading Lori Foster's My Man Michael, part of the SBC fighters (was a time travel which was completely unlike the previous books in the series), which I think is the main reason many people gave the book bad reviews. Not necessarily because it was a bad book, just that it was very different than what was expected for the series.

As a romantic suspence it is disappointing, but as a suspence novel it was an enjoyable read. If you decide to read this book, don't expect a romance. However, if you want a suspence novel, with intriguing and conflicted characters, a mystery surrounding a lost fortune, malicious and deadly relatives, then I think you will find Danger in a Red Dress an enjoyable read.

Holly Bardwell is running from her past mistakes. Straight into the arms of the Colter Brothers. Adam, Ethan and Ryan aren’t looking for women. They’re looking for a woman. One woman they know will share their lives and their beds. They don’t want a casual romp in the hay. They want the woman who will complete them. And they’re losing hope they’ll find her. That is until Adam finds Holly lying in the snow just yards from their cabin.

Adam knows she’s different the minute he folds her in his arms. But before he gets his hopes up, he knows he has to gauge his brothers’ reactions. Soon it’s evident, they all know the same thing. She’s the one. The problem? Convincing her of that fact.

Read an excerpt for Colters' Woman, in addition Maya Banks offers Colters' Wife as a free read on her website.

Review:
Colters' Woman grips the reader from the very first page. Holly is a runaway bride seeking refuge from her murderous husband, when she is found unconscious in a ditch by Adam. Adam, Ethan, and Ryan feel an instant connection to Holly and vow to protect her with their lives.
At first I was unbelieving of the situation (three brothers sharing one wife, and love at first unconscious site), but the further you read into the story the more you accept their lifestyle, through the brief but clever glimpse into their past.

The relationship between Holly, Adam, Ryan, and Ethan develops rapidly, but the author does a good job in relating their emotions and makes you believe that they are falling in love, and have been fated to be together. While all three men are to be her husband, the connection between Holly and Ryan seems to be the strongest, so I was surprised when Adam announces towards the end of the book that he will officially be her husband. This is one of the only things that I questioned about the author's choices. The only thought that I had was maybe she wanted to downplay the attachment between Ryan and Holly, or maybe it was as simple as Adam is the oldest. I don't really know, and no explanation is given as to this choice, but it bothered me. Then again if Ryan were to have been her legal husband, it may have made the premise of Holly married to all three less believable. I'm torn.

Nevertheless, Colters' Woman & Colters' Wife are a scintillating read! It has all the right elements: Adam the Alpha dominant, Ethan the sensitive and emotional lover, Ryan the identifiable wounded soul, sizzling hot love scenes, tender moments, meaningful relationships, suspenceful danger, and a HEA ending. My only complaint was that Colters' Woman felt unfinished, maybe this is why there is a short sequel "Colters' Wife". If you read Colters' Woman, please make sure you also read Colters' Wife (please see above for link). The free short novella brings a satisfying end to this story. You won't be disappointed!

This month, my name is Mary.

My name is different every month -- Brandy, Honey, Amy...sometimes Joe doesn't even bother to ask -- but he never fails to arouse me with his body, his mouth, his touch, no matter what I'm called or where he picks me up. The sex is always amazing, always leaves me itching for more in those long weeks until I see him again.

My real name is Sadie, and once a month over lunch, Joe tells me about his latest conquest. But what Joe doesn't know is that, in my mind, I'm the star of every X-Rated one-night stand he has revealed to me, or that I'm practically obsessed with our imaginary sex life. I know it's wrong. I know my husband wouldn't understand. But I can't stop.

Not yet.

Review:
Broken is so much more than an erotic romance. Megan Hart takes you on a thought compelling journey, and if one sentence would summarize what Sadie experiences in this book it would be this, "...I'd never know the woman I'd have been if I hadn't met Adam. Until I met Joe, I hadn't wondered. Who was I now?"

Megan Hart has a true gift to make you feel and understand what the characters are going through, and why they do the things that they do. You feel Sadie's despair, disappointments, hopes, her sense of betrayal, her guilt, her love and hatred for her husband.

Joe's erotic stories feeds the need that Sadie has, after a void is left following her husbands accident leaving him paralyzed. After a few stories you can sense that Joe is changing every month, until you realize he is falling in love with Sadie. I know it is strange to say but you learn that he is falling in love with her through his sexual encounters with the other women. What? you may say, unbelievable as that may sound, it is true.

It is a definite tear-jerker, but am SO glad that I read this book. Thought provoking and erotic, though the encounters between Sadie and Joe only happen towards the end of their story. Can't say enough about Megan Hart as an author. She is unlike most authors in her genre. My next read for Megan Hart will be her new release "Stranger".

Review:
This book consistently rates high, and I was very eager to read it after the rave reviews, and reading the back cover. I had high expectations (beautiful cover, enticing synopsis, great review...), but was sadly and disappointing.

The characters and the love story seemed underdeveloped and took a back seat to the sexual encounters, which were numerous, explicit, but lacked depth, feeling, and many felt stunted and incomplete. Sometimes (but not all) it felt more about the technicalities of sex, rather than making love.

Several obstacles are presented for the characters to overcome, both personally and/or within the relationship to achieve a happily ever after, but unfortunately the reader is cheated from experiencing how the characters feel, or what motivates them to the choices they make. It all just seems to miraculously and happily resolve. I like to read what the characters think and feel, it's what makes a story compelling and allows you to connect with them. You never find out why Hannah was repressed or how Grey overcomes his issues with Hannah having feelings for J.M. One minute Grey is asking her to leave after their ménage with J.M., next thing you know Grey is asking Hannah to marry him, with J.M. as their third partner. There seemed to be a lot of "fast forward to..." moments that left a lot of the story unfulfilled.

For me it was just an ok read. It's one of those books that if you never had the time to read it, you wouldn't be missing out on much. It wasn't necessarily bad, and many will disagree, but it just did not live up to my expectations of what an erotic romance should be.
