Sneak Peek: Skin Game by Ava Gray

Saturday, October 31

This is one book I can't wait to read!  I've been a reader of Ann Aguirre's (aka Ava Gray) blog for a while now, but have not read any of her books.  Why you may ask...well the answer is this:  I am not a big fan of fantasy or science fiction books and to date that's all she has written, that is until now.

So many people love the way Ann writes, so I was beyond excited when I found out she would be writing a romance series.  So far it appears that there are four books already contracted:  Skin Game, Skin Tight, Skin Privilege, and Skin DiveSkin Game is the first in the series, and comes out Nov. 3, however I believe some people have already seen it in the stores.  I've been wanting to read more paranormal romances, and I think this is a great place to start.

A beautiful fugitive—wanted dead or alive.

Kyra is a con woman and a particular kind of thief. She steals with a touch, but she only takes one thing: her target’s strongest skill. Which means she can be a fighter, an athlete, a musician, an artist—anything she wants… for a limited time. Heartbroken, she turns her gift toward avenging her father’s murder; with deadly patience, Kyra works her way into casino owner Gerard Serrano’s inner circle. After pulling off the ultimate con, she flees with his money and his pride.

A hit man who never misses the mark.

Reyes has nothing but his work. Pity for Kyra, he’s the best and mercy never sways him once he takes a job. He’s been hired to find out where Kyra hid the cash—and bring her back to face Serrano’s “justice.” Dead will do, if he can’t locate the loot. He’s never failed to complete a contract, but Kyra tempts him with her fierce heat and her outlaw heart. So Reyes has a hell of a choice: forsake his word or kill the woman he might love.

Sneak Peek: Possess Me At Midnight by Shayla Black

I've been dying to read the next two books in the Doomsday Brethren series by Shayla Black.  Seduce Me in Shadow came out last.  But since Possess Me at Midnight (book 3) came out Oct 27, a little less than a month apart, I decided to wait and read them both back to back so that way they can Seduce Me and Possess Me at the same time :)

If you have not read them yet, here's what your missing out on:

POSSESS ME AT MIDNIGHT follows a beautiful witch and a surly wizard as they fight to recover The Doomsday Brethren's most dangerous weapon.

An apocalypse approaches in the new novel from bestselling author Shayla Black's electrifying Doomsday Brethren series, as a magical warrior and a spirited witch ignite a smoldering passion that could destroy them both. As a mysterious dark cloud drains the life of her beloved brother, Doomsday Brethren leader Bram, Sabelle Rion can think of little else. Still, every time she meets Ice Rykard's intense green gaze, her body aches with need for the sexy warrior. Their attraction is explosive, incredible -- and forbidden. As dangerous as he is unpredictable, Ice is her brother's sworn enemy. But as Bram weakens, a more sinister force is gaining power. Evil Mathias and his ruthless Anarki army are on a bloodthirsty hunt for the Doomsday Diary. Sabelle must guard the potent book with her life -- and Ice vows to protect the beautiful witch with his. Duty demands that Sabelle deny her lover's fiery call of possession and mate with a man who can sway the magical Council against the impending rebellion. Guest Author: Vivian Arend featuring Wolf Flight

Friday, October 30

I am so excited about my guest author today.  She was a fabulous new find for me this year.  The book that I found her with was Rocky Mountain Heat, which I LOVED. LOVED. LOVED! And when I found out she was writing a series of wolf shifters, the first which involved a deaf heroine (see my Hidden Gems post for October for reasons why), I knew I had to give those a try too.

Please give a warm Musings welcome to Vivian Arend and her sexy wolf shifters from her new e-book Wolf Flight, book #2 in the Granite Lake Wolves series.

Welcome Viv!  I can't think of a more appropriate time of year, the day before Halloween;  where shifters rule (at least IMHO), to have you as my guest at Seductive Musings.  Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Do you have any favorite authors, and what’s on your keeper shelf?

I’m a newcomer to the writing world, and still consider myself first and foremost a reader. I started reading romance in January of 2008, and I love authors like Susanne Brockmann and Lora Leigh, but I enjoy an eclectic mix of writers, like David Eddings, Terry Prachette, Anne McCaffrey, Orson Scott Card.

My favorite books are The Princess Bride, The Belgariad Series, The Lord of the Rings and The Count of Monti Cristo. Go figure—I write about sarcastic wolves with that kind of reading material backing me up!

LOL, I love The Princess Bride, hence helping my niece name her princess doll "Princess Buttercup", pronounced Buwercup...and yes she says it just like that.  I'm so proud :)  Anyways, I digress....For someone who has not read one of your books before, can you tell us what you think makes a great love story, and what readers should expect when they read one of your novels?

I think the first thing you should know is I’m squeamish. I don’t do blood and guts and gore. Life has hard enough moments as it is that I don’t enjoy getting into the dark side. That doesn’t mean my characters always have a smooth run. There’s trouble, and the occasional danger, but they’re usually facing dangers that could happen to you or me on any given day. Okay, maybe not being attacked by a gang of rival wolves, but you know what I mean.

In terms of a love story, I believe there is such a thing as true love, and even fated mates, but I think it involves more than biting someone. It means hard work and being willing to give everything to make a life together. I think love is worthwhile sticking through the tough times. I think that shows in my characters.

And I really think life is a lot of fun, so there’s a bit of that at the base of every one of my stories.

I think those philosophies definitely come through in your writing.  Tell us about your Granite Lake Wolves series and what you love about them.

Two main things pop to mind.

The first is the location. The setting came from a trip I did with the family in the winter of 2007 into a cabin in the Yukon Wilderness. Yup, Granite Lake exists, and there’s a sauna and a lake with trout. It’s a 10-mile ski to the road, and we took a helicopter to get ourselves in. But we didn’t see any werewolves. Throughout the series I’ve so loved being able to give readers glimpses into the beautiful world of the Yukon. Book two and three we return to various locations around Haines Junction, Yukon and its sister city in nearby Haines Alaska. It’s a part of the world I think many people want to visit, and I had the privilege of living there for a couple of years.

The other thing I love about the series is that they’re wolves. They’re these magical, mystical people who just don’t take themselves too seriously. In the words of one of the characters…

Shaun scrunched up his face. “Uh, no… I mean, so I can change into a wolf. It’s no big deal. It’s not like I have uncontrollable urges to howl or shift involuntarily when the moon is full.

My wolf is just a part of who I am. An amazing, completely honest part of me.”

They’re occasionally snotty, and sarcastic, but not so much that you feel like you need a laugh track going in the background. They’re down to earth and real. I feel like I’m hanging out with friends when I’m writing their stories.

It feels like your hanging out with friends as you're reading it too...friends with "special" talents :)  Tell us about your hero, Tad Maxwell? What do you think will make readers, much like his heroine Missy, fall in love with him? And can you tell us a little bit about their story in Wolf Flight?

Tad is a man with a huge heart. He’s got firmly set boundaries in terms of what he feels are right and moral actions, and he refuses to cross the line just because someone else says it’s okay. He’s been attracted to Missy since they were teens, but refuses to let himself dream of anything more than friendship because he believes she’s human. Tad is supportive of his sister Robyn, and has always encouraged her to do anything she wants to attempt, in spite of being deaf. I think a man who is willing to want the best for others, no matter what that means for his own happiness, is a man I can admire. And he’s not the biggest guy on the block, he’s still a fine looking fellow and knows how to make a lady feel special.

Tad and Missy are both searching for a solution to their individual problems, and the solution is, of course, each other. It’s going to take a bit of work to figure that out. Kind of how we don’t just sit down and solve all our problems at one go… real life takes time. Even if you’re a werewolf.

That's one of the things that I love about your stories..you don't give your characters easy or convenient answers to their problems.  Your heroine Missy definitely has a problem that needs solving. You describe Missy as an “Omega with special powers”. What does this mean for her and how does it affect her standing in the pack?

In the Granite Lake world, Omegas are the heart of the pack. They are the peacekeepers of the werewolf community, the emotion compass—but they’re rare. Every pack has an Alpha and Beta, but Omegas are less common. Omegas also have the ability to sense the true motivation behind a person’s actions. It’s tough for someone who’s doing wrong to keep a secret from an Omega. In Missy’s pack she knows she’s in danger, and chooses to try and hide her abilities as they begin to manifest themselves to her.

Yeah, she definitely sensed the true motivations in her power hungry, scheming evil brother-in law with her Omega senses.  He's a character you love to hate! As you said, Omegas are the heart of the pack, but what would you consider to be the heart of the book... i.e. your favorite scene or moment from Wolf Flight, and why?

Favorite scene- Tad and Missy are trapped in a mountain cabin. The fire is burning, they’ve got a storm howling all around them, but it’s cozy and warm and they’re remembering back to when they were in high school together. It’s so intimate, and I’ve been in cabins, listening to the crackle of the fire and feeling that super relaxed feeling from the sheltered sensation, and then mix it together with the anticipation of arousal. Arwhoooo! My fav scene, for sure, even if it takes a little twist…

You're such a tease to leave us hanging like that!  It's like bad case of Readus Interruptus.  If you think that is going to make me want to read the book now...you're right :)  Do you need to read Wolf Signs, before Wolf Flight? Are they closely connected, or can they be read as stand alones even though they are both part of the Granite Lake Wolves series?

I’ve tried very hard to make every book I write work as a stand-alone. I had someone read Wolf Flight who hadn’t read Wolf Signs, and they enjoyed and understood it fine. Someone else did mention that you will find parts more amusing if you’ve read them in order, since some of the character’s personalities quirks become more endearing the longer you hang around them.

I know you have a lot going on right now. What are some of your other upcoming releases we can look forward to?

I am happy to announce book three in the wolves has been contracted and Wolf Games is scheduled for March 23, 2010. I am working on book 4, and have possible ideas for a couple more. But the fun thing is I’m also into writing other genres. I have a Contemporary Red Hot called Legacy releasing from Samhain January 19, 2010. I also have a very, very tongue in cheek remake of Aesop’s tale The Wind and The Sun coming out in March. I have a Space Opera in the works, plus a trio of fairytale/urban fantasy and another in the merfolk/watershifter series.

And…I’m working on book two in the contemporary cowboy series I have out with Liquid Silver books- The Six Pack Ranch.

No, I don’t sleep much. :) I’m trying to write at least 2000 words per/day, and that helps the story list keep growing. I’m having so much fun writing, it’s hard to slow down.

Jumping up and down with glee...I. CAN'T. WAIT. for the next book in the Six Pack Ranch series....those brothers are seriously addictive, from which I have no desire to be cured!  I know I emailed you the very next morning after finishing Rocky Mountain Heat to tell you how much I loved it and to find out when the next book would be released.  Tell us where and how you prefer readers to connect with you?

Check out my pretty new website at http://vivianarend.com/ You’ll find information about all my books and what I’m working on now. My blog is a part of the site, and it is updated regularly. There’s also a contact link, and if you do have any questions or comments, I really love to hear from readers.

Right now you have one final chance to take part in the contest I’m hosting—the Wolf Howl-- to win a prize package. The details are on my site, but if you leave a comment here, I’ll be sure to give you an entry.

If you could ask readers a question, what would it be?

If you had to choose between a book that made you learn something new about yourself, or a book that made you laugh, which would you choose right now in your life?

Finally, just for fun…if you could write the “fortune” in a fortune cookie what would it be?

“True love will appear when you decide you are worthy of being loved.” Either that or “I’m being held captive in a romance bookstore. Don’t rescue me, but please send chocolate…”

LOL. I love that last one. That is definitely where and how I would want to be held captive....as long as I eventually get rescued by a hunky hero :)

An untriggered werewolf. A runaway Omega. It’s not easy fighting destiny.

Granite Lake Wolves, Book 2

Tad Maxwell’s workaholism serves to keep his bush pilot company in the air, and his inner werewolf in check. In the two years since he discovered his heritage, he’s resisted the longing to test the power of his wolf side. It would mean compromising his human principals.

Then Missy Leason re-enters his life. Ten years ago, their teenage attraction never went beyond hand-holding. Now their chemistry is off the charts, pushing him closer to the step he’s not sure it’s safe to take, especially with a human.

But Missy is more like Tad than he realizes. She’s wolf too, and a wolf pack is a dangerous place to have secrets. Missy’s alpha has sniffed out her carefully hidden Omega powers. Her first response: run from the corrupt alpha’s plan to make her his mate. Step two: get to Tad, and hope like hell his untapped powers are strong enough to negate her own.

Every touch with Missy is hot, hot, hot, but even finding out she’s pure wolf doesn’t solve Tad’s dilemma. Is she using him, or are they truly destined mates? Only one thing is certain. He will defend her to his last breath—on his terms. Even if it means losing his life.

Warning: Contains nasty Alphas, secret Omegas and werewolves acting raunchy on the dance floor. Sarcasm, wilderness cabins, and hot nookie back by popular demand.

...and to my great delight Vivian has provided a bonus excerpt just for our Musings readers....enjoy!

February, Haines Junction, Yukon

Tad leaned against the cold exterior wall as he watched the company helicopter settle on the runway. Loose snow flew around the large metal-clad building they used as a hangar for both the chopper and the small bush plane. He waved briefly at his business partner, Shaun, before hurrying back indoors. There wasn’t much time left and he had a ton of preparations to complete before the afternoon flight.

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer had landed a major contract to transport researchers to and from a camp at the base of Mount Logan. The money was great but the timing sucked. As he hurried through his checklist his mind wandered, concern for his sister distracting him. What the hell was he thinking, letting a deaf girl head into the backcountry alone? He was supposed to take care of her, not throw her to the wolves. He should have refused the contract and gone with her like they originally planned. He was lost in thought when a solid touch to his shoulder startled him.

“Holy shit, Shaun, warn a guy will you?” Tad cursed, his heart racing.

“You’re a fucking werewolf. Why the hell can’t you learn to scent another wolf approaching?” Shaun peeled off his flight jacket and threw it onto one of the chairs at the side of the shop. His cocky grin did little to relax the knot in Tad’s stomach.

“Piss off.” So his ability to smell sucked. There were more important things to worry about as far as he was concerned. “Robyn get away okay? Crap, I can’t believe I let her go on the trip without me. What if something happens to her?”

Shaun laughed, slapping him on the back roughly. “You’re too damn possessive about your sister. She’s fine. She’s a great skier and experienced in the bush. Plus she’s so freaking powerful that being stuck in close quarters with her nearly kills me.” He paused for a second, flicking a concerned glance at Tad. “You’ve got to tell her soon. I mean, you’ve known about having werewolf genes for a couple of years now. She needs to know so she can move on with her life, learn about her other side. She’s going to be the most gorgeous wolf when she gets her genes triggered.”

Tad grit his teeth together, his face suddenly hot, muscles tense. Not this conversation again. “Yeah, and I suppose you want the privilege of triggering her, right?”

Shaun wiggled his eyebrows a few times and grinned. “Well, it wouldn’t be a chore by any stretch.”

Tad slammed a hand into his friend’s chest, hooked his fingers into his shirt and lifted him off his feet. Blood pounded in his ears and Tad looked out through a sea of red. Shaun’s toes dangled off the ground, kicking a few times as Tad held him high in the air, arm stretched at full length.

“Shit, Tad, I’m kidding around. Put me down.” Shaun wiggled, his face suddenly gone white.

Fuck.

My many thanks to Vivian for being my guest today.  As she mentioned in the interview she is currently  having a contest called "Howl for Wolf Flight"on her blog. But today is the last day, so hurry up and enter!

You can also earn a last chance entry by leaving a comment on this post for Vivian telling her what you like about her books, if you've read any of them, and answering her question she posed to readers in the interview.

Hidden Gems: Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy

My Hidden Gem pick this month is one of my favorite books of all time...written by an author that many people have read, but as I found out this week there were just as many who haven't...*gasp*.

I was reading a blog post earlier this week from ~Stacy's Place on Earth~ where she was spotlighting Erin McCarthy and she asked what our fav Erin book was.  I of course had to comment, because Erin McCarthy wrote one of my all time favorite contemporary romances...ever!  Even more so than Lori Foster, and I love Lori Foster.  I was not the first one to comment, so I read all of the ones previous to mine, just to see if anyone else had mentioned the book I love.  I can't tell you how surprised I was to see as many comments as there were stating that they had not read her books before and thought to myself...how can that possibly be!  I know contemporary romances are not as popular as historical and paranormal romances, but still....hence this month's Hidden Gems of Romance.

My selection for this month is my absolute favorite contemporary romance....Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy.  Let me tell you why I love it.

The hero of the story is a police detective who is down to earth, yet confident, strong, a little bit alpha, and very very sexy.  He has had to work for everything that he has and is proud of what he has accomplished, but struggles on a daily basis to raise, and connect with his much younger brother following the tragic death of their parents.  Neither are coping with the loss and new living arrangements well.

Our heroine is a woman who has lived a priveliged life and works in a candy store, basically because she loves to, not because she has too (and let me tell you there is some steamy stuff goin on with that candy!...kind of reminds me of how I felt about raspberries after reading Lisa Kleypas's Suddenly You).  While living a priveliged life she has also led a very sheltered and secluded life due to the overprotectiveness of her family because of her handicap.  She is deaf.  She longs for a "normal" life and has decided that she wants a relationship with a man that she has been corresponding with online, and feels he is safe while still being a bit daring...at least for her.  Little does she know she has been targeted by a man who loves em, and leaves em....broke...without a penny to their name.

The plot is intriguing, emotional, steamy, and suspenceful in parts...it also has a great secondary romance going on between two of the lesser characters that is also interesting.  But the reason why I think it has stayed with me for so long is that it was a book that I almost didn't finish reading.  Yep, you read that right.  I almost never NOT finish a book, but I had just started it and when I found out that the heroine was deaf it initially put me off.  Don't tar and feather me yet...hear me out.

I had been reading historical romances for a long time, and once I found Lori Foster I had been on a contemporary romance binge which is how I first found Erin McCarthy.  And in all of the books that I had read to that date, and I mean ALL of them...not one of them had a heroine with a disability or handicap in any way. NONE. Probably not even a broken fingernail.

I think sometimes as readers that we are conditioned by authors and the publishing industry on what to expect from the romances we read, therefore since perfection is what we know we seek out heroines that are beautiful and if they have any flaws whatsoever it is solely with their personality...think Emma by Jane Austen.  I don't think I am completely to blame because that is what I have come to expect when reading a romance.  Just as a side note, I think this is also one of the reasons why Jennifer Ashley's The Madness of Lord Ian McKenzie received so much attention this summer because her hero was also disabled.  I think that people were surprised how much they loved the hero despite, and maybe even because of his disability.  Anyways....

The thing I love most about contemporary romances is that I can easily identify with the characters; they could be me.  I am by no means perfect, but I could easily fit into their world.  But with a heroine with a handicap or disability... I have no experience with that.  I initially thought that I would not be able to connect with the heroine because of this, and to be fair I probably had not read more than a chapter or two, before considering not finishing the book because she was not "fiction perfect".

I don't exactly remember why I decided to keep on reading the book, it quite possibly could have been just laziness on my part on not getting up to grab a different book, but thankfully I kept reading because Mouth to Mouth remains one of my top 10 favorites to this day.  Laurel, the heroine of Mouth to Mouth,  is one of my favorite heroines...in spite of, and because of her deafness.

Laurel and Russ's love story is so touching because of the ways that they learn to communicate, how they identify  with each other, which then lead to the trust that enabled them to find a love that goes beyond  mere spoken words.  I hope that if you have not read it that you will give it a try...I don't think you'll be sorry.

In Love, There's No Such Thing As A Simple Plan

Rule #1: Cops maintain their distance.

It was supposed to be your average stakeout. My partner and I would scope out both the coffee shop and Laurel Wilkins, the latest target of con man Trevor Dean's scheme to meet women online and bilk them of their money--and everything else.

Rule #2: Cops think fast on their feet.

So I went inside to get a better look. So she happened to be gorgeous with a body that made me temporarily forget how to order coffee. So she knew my name--Russ Evans--and hugged me like we were more than friends. So what the $#@ is going on?

Rule #3: Cops never, ever get involved.

At least she's willing to offer herself up as bait. All I have to do is keep her safe--and keep my hands off.

Anything else would be against the rules. And oh so tempting...

Seductive Museum: My favorite cover for October 2009

Thursday, October 29

My Seductive Museum Cover Art pick for the month of October is....All Jacked Up by Lorelei James

I've loved all of the covers in the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James. All of them are bold and always seem to capture the spirit of the characters in each novel. They also have a very unique and distinctive look that is a signature brand for the Rough Riders series. I know if I were to see this cover from afar in a bookstore, that it would be a Lorelei James Rough Riders book.

With the colors, graphics and fonts it gives a subtle hint that this book will be set in the American west.  I always think of those saloon pictures that you can have taken while on vacation...you know the ones where you get to dress up and pretend you lived in the wild wild west, except these have a modern twist that eliminates the "cheesy" aspect of those photos and leaves you with a sexy and sultry memorable impression.

The cover for All Jacked Up does not show the hero's face Jack...and I like that.  I can picture him in my mind how I want him to look.  The woman in the photo embodies exactly how I would have pictured the heroine Keely.  I like that the photo seems intimate, like a stolen moment in time, without being overtly sexual or graphic.  I think it is pretty much perfect....much like all of Lorelei's Rough Riders series.

If you haven't read them yet I highly recommend them, but be forewarned, you should read them in order, and fall is the perfect time to read them as the weather gets colder, because these books definitely bring the heat!  Lorelei James is one of my favorite authors and never disappoints.  She is my go to author for sexy, steamy, emotional romances with lots of heart.

All Jacked Up, book #8 in the Rough Riders series, releases next week as an e-book on Nov. 3, but is available for pre-order at Books on Board(click on the cover to pre-order). I hope you join me next week for an interview with Lorelei to discuss this book and a whole lot more.

  • Share your favorite romance novel cover from any of the romance novels you’ve read this month, and remember this has nothing to do with the actual content of the book…just the cover.

  • The romance novel can be a new release, a current release, or an older book. As long as it is in print, it is available for purchase (no preorders), and is classified as a romance then it qualifies (historical romance, contemporary romance, paranormal romance, romantic suspense, erotic romance...).

  • Present your book cover art on the last Thursday of the month (barring any special events) on your blog using the Seductive Museum icon and following these participation rules. Tell us what you love about the cover, and then link your choice to the current Seductive Museum Gallery.

  • The following week I will compile a list of the submitted book covers and I'll have a poll where you can vote for your favorites. At the end of the year I will list the top book covers for each month and you can vote for the top 5 covers of the year. Once the masterpiece of the year has been chosen we will honor the author and the cover artist with an award.

Share the Love: Halloween & Fall Memories

This is an old family recipe that we seemed to only make on Halloween.  The men usually escorted the kids out for trick or treating while my Grandmother, Mother and Aunt stayed home to pass out treats, and to make the doughnuts while we were gathering the loot.

When we finally found our way home, a little chilled, usually with runny noses, and waaaaay to much candy, we would come into a house that smelled like home.  Warm, inviting, with family, friends, food and drink that to this day still mean "Fall" to me.  We would sit around the table with our Apple Cider , and hot doughnuts deciding how we wanted to decorate them and which were the most tasty combinations, and talk about our candy adventures.

It's one of my favorite memories and holiday traditions. Making these homemade doughnuts now makes me smile to remember the shared moments like these, especially since some of my loved ones are no longer with us.   We gathered as a family, but it was a time that was just for fun.  There aren't the pressures of all of the cooking for Thanksgiving, and all of the busy holidays stresses of Christmas and New Year.  It was a time for fun, laughter, good food, and for everyone to be a kid again...even if it was for just one night.  That's why Halloween and the fall season is one of my favorite times of the year.

Halloween is just a few days away....do you have any favorite Fall or Halloween traditions to share?

Potatoe Doughnuts

2 beaten eggs
1 Cup sugar
2 Tablespoons canola oil
1 Cup of mashed potatoes
1 Cup of sour milk*
4 1/2 Cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of nutmeg

  1. Beat eggs and sugar until light.
  2. Add oil and mashed potatoes, then the sour milk*. Beat until smooth.
  3. Add flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg just until mixed.
  4. Chill dough. Once chilled roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface and use doughnut cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  5. Fry dough in an electric skillet at 375 degrees, turning once. Place on paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  6. Top with your favorite doughnut toppings. Ours are chocolate icing, sprinkles, nuts, and coconut, sugar, and sliced almonds.  Be creative that's part of the fun :)
*how to make sour milk= add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar to milk and let stand for approx 15 min until it appears curdled.

Hope you have a yummy Wednesday!

Share the Love is a weekly meme hosted by Seductive Musings every Wednesday.
  • Every Wednesday post whatever it is that you love on your blog or website.
  • Then leave a link to your post in the comments on the weekly Share the Love post at Seductive Musings. If you don't have a blog, that's ok you can still share the love in your comment on the weekly Seductive Musings post.
  • What can you share...well that depends on what you love :) Here are some ideas: a new blog or website, a great recipe that is a taste bud triumph, new shoes or purse that you seriously can't afford but lust after anyway, a great love story like the ones from When Harry Met Sally, a love note to someone special in your life (or wish was), a book you just adore and can't wait to share with someone, a song or CD that plays on repeat until it's worn out, poems, pictures, videos, or even baby giggles :) I think you get the idea.

Teaser Tuesday: An Echo in the Bone & The Untamed Bride

Tuesday, October 27

"As for being here...ye've been here many nights wi' me, Sassenach.  You and the wee lass, both."  Though I didna ken then she was a lassie, he added silently, remembering with a small pang that now and then he had sat there on the flat rock by the entrance, imagining sometimes a daughter warm in his arms, but now and then feeling a tiny son on his knee and pointing out the stars to travel by, explaining to him how the hunting was done and the prayer ye must say when ye killed for food.
p. 681 An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

As the music continued, the pieces flowing one to the other with only the barest pause to allow the musicians to readjust their sheets, he tried to remain attuned to their surroundings, watchful, alert to any potential danger, yet she --  her face, her radiant expression, those lips that had from the first enticed --held a far stronger fascination.  A fascination that was rapidly approaching obsession.
p. 131 The Untamed Bride by Stephanie Laurens

My FREE Kindle Quest

I've wanted a Kindle for what seems like forever, but haven't been able to afford it (and that's saying something since I can justify the cost of just about ANYTHING that I really want). I've tried winning one in one of the many giveaways that have taken place over the couple of years, but with no luck :( So I've decided to take matters in hand so to speak :) I've now decided that I am going to accumulate enough Swagbucks from my Swabucks searches to buy one...so in essence my new Kindle will be FREE...funded entirely by my internet searches done on Swagbucks. I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)
Goal: $119
Current Swagbucks Amazon Gift Card balance: $90.00
If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca gift cards on this rewards site)
