Guest Author & Giveaway: Larissa Ione featuring Sin Undone

Tuesday, August 31

***This giveaway has ended, but you should still read the post...it's worth your time:)  Thanks for joining the fun!***

What can I say....I have the pleasure of hosting another great guest author today.  Larissa Ione is here today to share her fifth and final novel in her New York Times bestselling Demonica series, Sin Undone.  If that title doesn't grab your attention then I fear you are at the wrong blog :)  Read and enjoy!

Welcome back to Seductive Musings Larissa!

***Happy to be here! Thanks for having me back!

If you had an opportunity to provide only a two or three sentence "teaser" quote from SIN UNDONE, to grab the attention of potential readers and give them a glimpse and feeling of what the story is about what would it be?

Oh, how fun! Okay, here are a few sentences that really give a nice preview, I think! *g*

“Yeah.  I need sex or I die.  So stop with the obnoxious chaperon shit, because I really don’t want you anywhere nearby while I’m doing it, and I don’t think you want that either.”  Sin gave her brothers her sweetest smile.  “And know that the second you’re gone, I’m going to ride Con until he begs for mercy.”

Eidolon sighed.  Shade swore.  And Con muttered something that sounded strangely like, “Mercy.”

Tell us about your hero, Conall Dearghul.  What do you think will make readers, much like his heroine Sinead, fall for his sexy self?   And can you tell us a little bit about their story in SIN UNDONE?

Conall is a dhampire, a half-vampire, half-werewolf.  He lives for adrenaline rushes, and Sin certainly gives him that. He's been exiled from his clan for hundreds of years, works at Underworld General for the thrill, and he loves a good fight as much as he loves a good tumble in bed. Hopefully readers will like his messy blond hair, thick, hard, um...fangs...and ripped body as much as Sin does!

Their story is an adventurous one, taking the two on the run all over the world.  At first, Con needs to keep Sin close for his own health, but danger to both of them soon requires that they work together no matter how much Sin protests.  Oh, she needs him (she's a succubus, after all,) but she doesn't want to belong to him...and Con's nature won't allow anything less than complete possession...

What's your favorite scene or moment from SIN UNDONE, and why? Can you describe it, or provide a short excerpt for us without giving too much away?

I have several favorite scenes, but I think my very favorite, and one of the first scenes I wrote, is the very last one.  Obviously, because it's the last scene I can't give much away, but I really love how everything is wrapped up with an unconventional twist for one couple. *g*

What are five fun facts about you or this book, that readers would love to know?
  1. Snow is prominent in Sin Undone, and it’s no coincidence that I love snow. The freak snowstorm that takes place in a few scenes is based on my military time spent in Montana, where I experienced a freak snowstorm on the 4th of July, just two days after 70 degree temperatures.
  2. In another snow scene, skiing is the focus… one of my favorite pastimes.
  3. Though Sin and her brother, Lore, are both half-breeds who have no personal symbol on their throats the way their purebred brothers do, Sin does have a tattoo on the back of her neck. And yes, she put it there for a reason…
  4. The “gun safe escape scene” comes right out of the book of my life. I actually knew — okay, went on one date with — a guy who had done the same thing Con did. Never know when you need to make a quick escape, apparently…
  5. Sin Undone sets up the spinoff series coming in March, introducing both the villain and the hero of the first book, Eternal Rider. I had a lot of fun taking Sin, who Eidolon has referred to as basically “chaos on legs,” and making sure the word “chaos” applies to her in every way. Seeing how she sets of a series of events that could lead to the end of the world, I think Eidolon had it right!
What are some of your upcoming releases, or new projects you are working on? We’re dying to know...and we promise not to tell a soul ;)

Oh, I'm sure you'll keep my secret! *g*  So...shh...don't tell anyone, but I'm working on the second of the Demonica spinoff series, which is about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.  The second book stars a female Horseman, so I'm having fun with that.  The first book, Eternal Rider, will release next March, and you'll meet the hero, Ares (War), in Sin Undone. I'm VERY excited about this series!

If you could ask readers a question what would it be?

You walk into an underworld pub, and sitting at the bar is a gorgeous vampire, a hard-bodied werewolf, a breathtaking angel, and a smoking hot incubus.  Which one do you naturally gravitate toward?

HER TOUCH IS DEADLY

As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she’ll die before she’ll relinquish her freedom again. Then Sin’s innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and violence.

HIS HUNGER CAN’T BE DENIED

Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she’s no stranger: He’s bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld’s most wanted and Con soon learns he’s the only one who can help her . . . and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.

Monday's Muse

Monday, August 30

Sorry, but the image containing the Monday's Muse has been removed from this blog so as not to violate any copyright issues.  Thanks for your understanding!

Over the weekend I watched the movie The Back-Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin.  I didn't really expect much, but I love Romantic Comedies and it seems these days they are few and far between so you gotta take what you can get.  And I have to say that I enjoyed it.  It make me laugh, and the romance part was sweet....and the hero Alex O'Loughlin was oh so yummy!

I also read the book All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins over the weekend and it too was a  Contemporary Romantic Comedy, even though it's tagged as a Romance.  I can't tell you how many times this book made me laugh.  I thought the heroine was absolutely charming and really made the book for me, so much more than the hero.  Even though I would classify this as a sweet romance (a few kisses and love scenes were only alluded to) I really enjoyed it.  It made me laugh and cry and I loved the characters.

I read the book after watching the movie and even though Alex O'Loughlin doesn't match the description of the hero in the book(at all) I couldn't help but envision him as the hero who is a vet.  He just exudes sexy, warmth, and is handsome and endearing, and yummy (it bears repeating).  *sigh* I would totally love him as my vet, which is why he's this week's Muse.  I'm so looking forward to seeing him this fall in Hawaii Five-O.  Are you going to watch the new show?  I am...just in hopes of seeing him on the beach :)  In real life he's Australian which is another accent that I love love love.

Here is what is on the agenda this week:
  • Larissa Ione, Alexandra Hawkins and Jaci Burton will be my guests and trust me when I say you won't want to miss them
  • There is a new Tempting Trailer for M.A. Ellis for two of her newer novellas.  I loved her Ellora's Cave anthology Hard as Nails and she'll be my guest later in September
  • I'll also be working on the blog a bit (some of the menu links that have been works in process, that in actuality have been sadly abandoned) in addition to some reviews
As we come to the end of August this week I just wanted to thank all of you for joining me for the "Feel the Heat" celebration.  It's been crazy busy and all sorts of fun with some of my favorite authors as my guests.  I hope you've enjoyed it as well.

Have a great Monday, and try and stay cool!

Guest Author & Giveaway: Paula Quinn featuring Seduced by a Highlander

Friday, August 27

***This giveaway has ended, but you should still read the post...it's worth your time:)  Thanks for joining the fun!***

Kilted heroes are so nice I thought we'd feature them twice :)  That's right my friends I have yet another Highland hero for you today, and his book has the most perfect title SEDUCED BY A HIGHLANDER.  I think I'm in love :)  Which according to my sun sign I easily fall in love...so apparently next week  I will be in love with a new hero.  I think I can live with that, but for now I'm a happy Booklover :)

Paula Quinn is my guest today to talk about her new historical romance SEDUCED BY A HIGHLANDER,  how astrology plays a part in her character's personalities, as well as her seductive kilt clad hero Tristan (which I think is just about one of the most romantic names) and who consequently is a fellow Gemini. No wonder he's so charming :)  Read and enjoy!

Welcome back to Seductive Musings Paula! I think we can both agree that it doesn’t get much hotter than a man in a kilt.  What do you think it is about a kilt that is so irresistible? And what makes Highlanders such great heroes in your opinion?

Hi, it's wonderful to be back at Seductive Musings! Thanks so much for having me.

I think the consensus that there's nothing hotter than a man in a kilt is shared by many women. In fact, I recently asked my readers what makes a Highlander so irresistible and the response was enormous. Pardon the pun, but size does matter! Who doesn't like a tall, broad-shouldered man with great legs? Let's not forget also, that it’s pretty windy in Scotland!

On a more serious note though, I believe, and so do my readers, that Highlanders, because of their environment, are harder, more determined to protect what they love. They are stubborn men who aren't afraid to look danger straight in the face. They are confident men who appreciate women with moxie. Their loyalty to their clan and cause makes them dependable, while their big, blood-stained Claymores make them dangerous. All these things together make for one irresistible hero.

If you had an opportunity to provide only a two or three sentence "teaser" quote from SEDUCED BY A HIGHLANDER, to grab the attention of potential readers and give them a glimpse and feeling of what the story is about what would it be?

One of my favorite quotes from Seduced By A Highlander takes place after Tristan saves Isobel's brothers from a raiding clan.

"Tell me what I must do to gain yer favor."
"What would ye do with it after I gave it to ye?"
"I would show ye who I am, The man I've been hidin' from everyone else."

Tell us about your hero, Tristan MacGregor.  What do you think will make readers, much like his heroine Isobel, fall in love with him despite being sworn enemies ever since his clan murdered her father?   And can you tell us a little bit about their story in SEDUCED BY A HIGHLANDER?

Oh, Tristan. He was, by far, one of my most difficult heroes to write. And the most gratifying. Outwardly, he's a charming, unrepentant rogue who has no trouble at all winning men to his side...and women to his bed. He's approachable and inviting, yet he is able to remain remarkably aloof toward the people in his life, including his family. It's all a marvelous facade. And he had me fooled right up until my revisions.

As a child, Tristan was scarred-not physically, but emotionally-by a tragic event of his doing. It changed who he was and who he had wanted to become. He's been running from his life for ten years. But Isobel Fergusson, daughter of his clan's most hated enemy, reminds him of all he's lost and what he needs to gain back in order to become a knight in shining...ok, so it's not all that sparkling..rusty armor.

Now tell us about your heroine, Isobel.  What makes her the perfect woman for Tristan? What are some of the qualities that attracts him to her and makes her irresistibly tempting?

Isobel is loyal to a fault to her family of six brothers. Orphaned by the MacGregors when she was a child, she has taken on the roll of mother, cook, nurse, referee, housecleaner, farmer-everything her brothers need her to be, and leaving her no time for what she is. A woman. When she first meets Tristan, she's unaware that he's a hated MacGregor and after an afternoon of being swept off her feet, she is able to look beyond his notorious reputation and see what no one has cared to look for in the last ten years. A gallant man. Of course, when she learns his true identity, she refuses to speak to him ever again, let alone trust him when he suggests a way of ending the feud between their families. She's perfect for Tristan because, like him, she is hard on the outside, but vulnerable within--and because she hates him. Tristan MacGregor has never before had to try to win a woman who hated him--or that woman's six brothers.

What's your favorite scene or moment from SEDUCED BY A HIGHLANDER, and why? Can you describe it, or provide a short excerpt for us without giving too much away?

One of my favorite scenes is the day after Tristan is first rejected by Isobel. He leaves the company of a beautiful admirer to follow Isobel and perhaps share another word with her.

But even as he steadied his pace to keep a short distance behind her, Tristan knew that his desire to speak to Isobel again had less to do with defending himself or his kin than was wise to admit aloud. He already missed the ease with which they spoke, the spark of intelligence in her emerald eyes, her ability to see the best in him when no one else had ever bothered looking.

Silently, he watched her make her way down the long corridor, passing the Gallery without pause. He surveyed her form and cocked his head a little at the soft sway of her hips. The hem of her kirtle was somewhat tattered, but she passed a half dozen statelier dressed ladies with her chin tilted upward. The pride she possessed made him breathless. He was deciding how best to approach her when she suddenly turned, stilling him with a fiery glare.

“Do ye intend to follow me around the entire duration of my stay, MacGregor?”

Lifting his gaze from the roundness of her backside, he couldn’t help but smile at her caustic tone and large, wary eyes. She was like an unbridled rush of fresh air to his lungs, and he wanted more. “Now that I’ve enjoyed the view from such a vantage point, Miss Fergusson,” He moved quietly toward her. “I confess the likelihood is quite high.”

He didn’t miss the high flush spreading across her cheeks, or the way she practically trembled with the effort it took her not to tear one of the old swords off the wall and strike him with it.

“Is this where am I supposed to swoon like all yer other little sheep?” she asked him, relying on her sharp tongue instead. She wielded it with zest. “They might think ye are a ram, but I know now what ye truly are.”

No one knew that, not even him, Tristan thought as his wee game to bask in her temper came to an abrupt end. Outwardly, he could be many things, change with his surroundings like a chameleon. But no where in him was there a cold-blooded killer.

“Tristan?”

Someone called out from down the corridor. It was Mairi’s voice. Hell. The rest of his kin might disregard his interest in Isobel trusting that it would not last long and knowing there was nothing they could do about it short of locking him away somewhere, but his sister had a tendency toward violence.

“Meet me in the Privy Garden at midnight,” he said quickly, counting the moments until Mairi saw them together. “and let me prove that ye’re wrong.”

Isobel looked about to laugh and for an instant Tristan considered giving up all to watch her do it.

“My answer,” she told him tightly, “is the same as the last time ye invited me fer a walk. Ye are deranged if ye think I will agree to a clandestine meeting with my worst enemy, Mister MacGregor. Utterly and completely deranged.”

He had to agree with her.

What are five fun facts about you or this book, that readers would love to know?

Let's see, five fun facts about me or the book...Ok, here goes:
  1. Tristan was fashioned after an Italian actor named Daniele Liotti and Errol Flynn! Watch any classic Errol Flynn movie and feel your knees come undone by the man's charismatic smile alone.
  2. The biggest inspiration I get for a book comes from music.
  3. I love studying astrology and always apply the traits of a sign to my characters. Sometimes I don't pick my characters sign, they do. Rob (from Ravished By A Highlander) was conceived in Laird of the Mist. The months aligned perfectly to make him a Taurus. A sign he fit to a tee. Tristan's mother was already pregnant with him in A Highlander Never Surrenders at the end of Autumn.  He was born in late May, making him a Gemini. And when they say Geminis are dual natured, they aren't kidding. Tristan is a perfect example.
  4. I've always wanted to write a hero named Tristan. It's one of my favorite names for a man. The other is William.
  5. Tristan's name means "sorrow", but remember, he's a Gemini. You'll have to read the book to know what I mean. :)
If you could ask readers a question what would it be?

Look up your birth sign, find one characteristic that fits you perfectly and tell me what it is.

Finally, just for fun…if you could write the “fortune” in a fortune cookie what would it be?

I'll let Tristan answer that one.
"To yourself, be true."

SINS THAT CAN'T BE FORGIVEN

Tristan MacGregor is famed throughout the Highlands as a silver-tonged seducer and an unrepentant rogue. Bold and charming, he's dallied with many women, yet none as mysterious as the lass he steals a kiss from at king's court. Little does he know this beauty is one of his clan's greatest enemies.

PASSION THAT CAN'T BE DENIED

Isobel Fergusson has despised the bloodthirsty MacGregors ever since they murdered her father. She's horrified to learn that the handsome stranger she kissed is of this clan. But Tristan means to possess her at any cost and Isobel's body turns traitor at his touch. Can a man she's sworn to hate be the only one she can ever love?

Guest Author & Giveaway: Teresa Medeiros featuring The Devil Wears Plaid

Thursday, August 26

***This giveaway has ended, but you should still read the post...it's worth your time:)  Thanks for joining the fun!***

This week we've had heroes who speak French, Italian, and today we introduce another language that makes me weak in the knees, and quite possibly my favorite....the Gaelic language/Scottish accent.  I talk a lot about how sexy I think kilts are on this blog, but what does it for me even more is the Scots accent and dialect. I LOOOOVE IT!  Spoken, written...doesn't matter to me.  Combine the kilt and the accent and I am a complete absolute goner :) Has anyone here heard the songs from Outlander: the Musical yet? (you can listen to the songs from the musical here, download a free song here, and view photos here).  You better believe I'll be attending the local Celtic fest :)  But I digress....

I'm very excited to have award winning and New York Times bestselling author Teresa Mederios as my guest today and she brings with her her sexy Scottish hero from her newest historical romance,  THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID. Does it get any better?....I don't think so :)  Read and enjoy!

Welcome to Seductive Musings Teresa! For you, what makes a romance novel a great love story?

I love a story that makes me laugh and cry and makes me feel like these two people really can’t live without each other. That they really somehow require each other to become fully realized individuals. I guess that was a test I made my husband pass before I agreed to marry him. I asked myself if he made me less of who I am or more of who I am and thankfully for both of us, the answer was MORE!

Several of your heroes are Scottish Highlanders, what makes them such great heroes in your opinion?

After visiting the Scotland Highlands a couple of years ago, I was impressed anew with what a beautiful, wild and dangerous country it is and just how tough you have to be to survive. And who can resist a hero with those skills? The very image of the Highlands makes you think words like “wild” and “untamed” and “rugged”--all words we also like to apply to our heroes. The accent is also pretty irresistible. (Just ask all of those Sean Connery and Gerard Butler fans!)

If you had an opportunity to provide only a two or three sentence "teaser" quote from THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID, to grab the attention of potential readers and give them a glimpse and feeling of what the story is about what would it be?

How about what Jamie says to his sworn enemy after he bursts into the church and interrupts the old man’s wedding to a nubile young bride?

"Oh, I haven't come for you, auld mon." A lazy smile curved the intruder's lips as he drew a gleaming black pistol from the waistband of his kilt and pointed it at the snowy white bodice of Emma's gown. "I've come for your bride.”

Tell us about your hero, Jamie Sinclair.  What do you think will make readers, much like his heroine Emmaline, fall in love with him despite being a stolen bride? And can you tell us a little bit about their story in THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID?

Jamie is essentially a noble soul trapped in very difficult circumstances. He becomes a dangerous man because of his hunger for revenge but at his core, there’s still a sweetness that Emmaline longs to reveal. I've always loved a good kidnapped bride story, especially when the hero doing the kidnapping is a hunky Higlander like Jamie. Emma is about to marry the man of her nightmares when Jamie bursts into the abbey on his big, black horse and whisks her away. I love that Jamie has physical power over her but she quickly develops emotional power over him.

How about your heroine, Emma, what makes her the perfect woman for Jamie?  What are some of the qualities that attracts him to her and makes her irresistibly tempting?

He thinks she’s going to be some frail English miss but she turns out to have a very tough core. She refuses to back down from the challenge he represents and he finds her spirit irresistible.

What's your favorite scene or moment from THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID, and why? Can you describe it for us without giving too much away?

I love the moment in the forest when Emma first confronts Jamie after he abducts her. She stands up to him but she also quickly realizes that his tenderness is going to be a much greater threat to her body (and her heart) than his bullying.

What are five fun facts about you or this book, that readers would love to know?

1) The name Emmaline came from a song by a band called HOT CHOCOLATE
2) My two goals in life were to do romance heroes named Billy and Jamie and I did Billy in NOBODY’S DARLING and now I’ve done Jamie in THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID.
3) I fell a little in love with Ian Hepburn, Jamie’s former friend, while I was writing the book
4) Jamie’s band of merry men are based on the heavy metal band AC/DC. You’ll recognize his cousin Bon from his physical description as the late great lead singer Bon Scott.
5) When Jamie and Emma make love the first time, I was listening to IF EVER I WOULD LEAVE YOU from the CAMELOT soundtrack

Finally, just for fun…if you could write the “fortune” in a fortune cookie what would it be?

Don’t dream it, be it. (And yes, I stole that from ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.)

AN INNOCENT WOMAN

Emmaline Marlow is about to wed the extremely powerful laird of the Hepburn clan to save her father from debtor's prison when ruffian Jamie Sinclair bursts into the abbey on a magnificent black horse and abduts her in one strong swoop. Though he is Hepburn's sworn enemy, Emma's mysterious captor is everything her bridegroom is not--handsome, virile, dangerous...and a perilous temptation for her yearning heart.

A DANGEROUS MAN

Jamie expects Emma to be some milksop English miss, not a fiery, defiant beauty whose irresistible charms will tempt him at every turn. But he cannot allow either one of them to forget he is her enemy and she his pawn in the deadly Highland feud between the clans. Stealing his enemy's bride was simple, but can he claim her innocence without losing his heart?

*I am an Amazon affiliate and receive a small (and I mean very small) referral fee for purchases made using a link on this blog. I don't use Amazon to earn money, I use it because the widgets are cool, easy to use, and serve my purposes to showcase books & such with minimal effort, but most importantly they have great prices and offer both new and used items. As a book addict I love that I can find just about anything I want in one place. If you are going to purchase a featured book anyway, and you know you won't pay more by using the links on this blog than you would by visiting Amazon on your own, I will be eternally grateful for supporting this blog by using the links, and don't forget that the referral fees from your purchases will sponsor the "Reader Rewards" giveaways :)

My FREE Kindle Quest

I've wanted a Kindle for what seems like forever, but haven't been able to afford it (and that's saying something since I can justify the cost of just about ANYTHING that I really want). I've tried winning one in one of the many giveaways that have taken place over the couple of years, but with no luck :( So I've decided to take matters in hand so to speak :) I've now decided that I am going to accumulate enough Swagbucks from my Swabucks searches to buy one...so in essence my new Kindle will be FREE...funded entirely by my internet searches done on Swagbucks. I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)
Goal: $119
Current Swagbucks Amazon Gift Card balance: $90.00
If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca gift cards on this rewards site)
