To Me, This is What Love is About....

Saturday, January 22

So Thursday I happened to catch Oprah.  Did you watch it?  If you didn't let me give you a brief recap, so that the video below has some context.

On this day Oprah was highlighting her trip to Australia and had a couple going through a serious illness as her special guests.  The husband, Kristian, was diagnosed with Liver and Bowel cancer and has been undergoing treatments.  His doctors advised him to quit his job to focus on treatments, so his wife, Rachel, returned to her job as a high school teacher.

Oprah's commentary chronicled how hard this has been on all of them.  Her working, taking care of their family, and her husband who is extremely ill and how taxing it has been emotionally from all of the stress, worry, and daily living.  She actually broke down and cried because she is "it" for their family and sometimes the pressures of it all, with the possibility of losing the man she loves to cancer, becomes too much.  My heart went out to her, and then......Oprah played this video that her husband made for her for her birthday....to try and tell her what she means to him and how much he loves her.

I will tell you right now, every time I've viewed this video it has made me cry. Not only because of the sentiments but because you know he is so very ill and how hard this must be for all of them. Seriously, have some tissues handy. But to me, this is what love is all about...

Did you cry too, or am I just PMS'ing in a big way? It gets me every time he holds up the card and asks her not to give up on him, then says life just doesn't work without her....and then *sob* when he holds up the card and says he needs her like he needs a cure for cancer.....goner.

And Hugh Jackman, in one word, YUMMY!  Have a great weekend!

p.s. just so you know he did make the video himself.  He worked as a TV editor or something like that before he had to stop working so had the know how and the connections to make it.

OMG, how heart breaking to see someone so young, with such young children, having to deal with this. (Sadly, I know it happens every day.) How many men would even think to do something like this for their wives? His wife is lucky to have him, for however short or long a time she does.

Why does it seem to be the good ones who so often get struck down. They can' find a cure for cancers soon enough. So many families have been effected the same way.

And, no, PMSing isn't the reason for the tears. I had to watch it twice to be able to read it all through my tears.

My FREE Kindle Quest

I've wanted a Kindle for what seems like forever, but haven't been able to afford it (and that's saying something since I can justify the cost of just about ANYTHING that I really want). I've tried winning one in one of the many giveaways that have taken place over the couple of years, but with no luck :( So I've decided to take matters in hand so to speak :) I've now decided that I am going to accumulate enough Swagbucks from my Swabucks searches to buy one...so in essence my new Kindle will be FREE...funded entirely by my internet searches done on Swagbucks. I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)
Goal: $119
Current Swagbucks Amazon Gift Card balance: $90.00
If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca gift cards on this rewards site)
