Friday, March 25
It's finally Friday! I was going to post a review today, and I still might, but I wanted to have something that was fun....ya know a great way to start the weekend and relieve a little stress.
I don't know if I mentioned this before or not, but I've started a new feature/contest for the blog. So far it's just been for authors that have been, or will be guests on the blog, but I thought it might be fun to do an occasional one for readers too. Have you heard of hint fiction? I have to admit that I had never heard of it until browsing through the new releases at my public library and ran across a little book containing a collection of stories that were twenty-five words or less. I was fascinated by it and the images that the authors were able to evoke is such few words.
Here is the definition of what hint fiction should be:
hint fiction (n) : a story of 25 words or fewer that suggests a larger, more complex story
Based on description of what hint fiction is about, I found a video for inspiration for participating authors to base their romance hint story about, that way each story will be about the same video, but will also be different because it will be each author's interpretation of the couple's story. The video that I selected was this one featuring David Gandy. (without the fragrance bit and the commercial bit)
I actually prefer to watch it without sound, so I can make up my own story about the couple. :) Eventually, I'll begin posting the entries that have been submitted, and at the end of the year readers get to vote for their favorite romance hint fiction story. In the meantime I thought it might be fun for all of Musings readers and followers to make up their own Romance Hint Fiction story based on the video. Just remember:
- You need to use the video above for inspiration
- You need to provide narrative or text that is 25 words or less
- You need to give your story a title, and those words don't count towards your 25 word maximum
That's it! Doesn't that sound like fun? Any author that submits a romance hint fiction story based on the video will be entered to win one year's worth of free advertising at Seductive Musings. But I think having something similar for readers might be fun too (with a different prize of course). What do you think? Want to give it a try? Do you have a video that you would like to submit to be an inspiration for a romance hint fiction contest? Write a story, send a link. It's Friday, let's have some fun :)
*I am an Amazon affiliate and receive a small (and I mean very small) referral fee for purchases made using a link on this blog. I don't use Amazon to earn money, I use it because the widgets are cool, easy to use, and serve my purposes to showcase books & such with minimal effort, but most importantly they have great prices and offer both new and used items. As a book addict I love that I can find just about anything I want in one place. If you are going to purchase a featured book anyway, and you know you won't pay more by using the links on this blog than you would by visiting Amazon on your own, I will be eternally grateful for supporting this blog by using the links, and don't forget that the referral fees from your purchases will sponsor the "Reader Rewards" giveaways :)
