Guest Author & Giveaway: Katie Lane featuring Going Cowboy Crazy & Make Mine a Bad Boy

Wednesday, May 11

Do any of you remember the Wrigley's Spearmint Gum commercials that always featured twins in the ads and had that catchy jingle "Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun"?  That catch phrase is so perfect because double Cowboys is exactly what I have to tempt you with today!  Author Katie Lane is here to share with us, not one, but TWO of her books that feature Cowboy heroes from her Deep in the Heart of Texas series.  Yes, Mam, we are talking sexy Southern Cowboys and that is most definitely Double the Trouble, Double the Pleasure, and Double the Fun!  Read and enjoy!

Welcome to Seductive Musings Katie! Can you tell us a but about yourself and for you, what makes writing contemporary romances about sexy cowboys so compellingly seductive to your muse?

When I was sixteen I met a boy from Texas with the cutest little country twang.  I ended up marrying that boy—thus the start of my infatuation.  Although silver screen studs like Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid didn’t hurt.

When learning about your two new romances the things that attracted me to them, other than the cowboys, were the humor you seem to have infused the stories with, and the setting:  Texas, and a town full of colorful characters.

While visiting your website I found a Margarita recipe from a character in your books and thought it was so much fun. If you had to write a recipe to describe the elements you like to include in a book that you are writing, what would you consider to be the perfect blend of ingredients to make your romance a great love story?

One shot hot hero.
One shot complex heroine.
A spritz of humor.
A twist of sexual tension.

Shake well.  And remember, always read responsibly.

Your debut novel, GOING COWBOY CRAZY is the first book in your new Deep in the Heart of Texas series, with the second book MAKE MINE A BAD BOY releasing next month. Can you tell about your two heroes, Slate Calhoun and Colt Lomax, the women they fall for, and a little bit about each of their stories?

Slate is the hometown football hero who men want to be and women want in bed.  Faith is an overcautious easterner who has few friends and less family.  When Faith arrives in Bramble, Texas looking for her long-lost twin sister, the entire town mistakes her for that sister.  Everyone but Slate.  Slate knows as soon as Faith kisses him that she’s not Hope.  He also knows he wants much more than kisses from this twin.

Colt is the bad boy of Bramble, a loner who has always gone his own way.  Hope is the sweetheart of Bramble, an overachiever who thrives on the townsfolk’s approval.  After she fails in Hollywood, Hope returns home to discover her “back-up plan”, Slate Calhoun, has fallen for a twin sister Hope didn’t even know she had.  As she struggles to figure out a new direction for her life, she must also deal with her lifelong attraction to Colt—an attraction that ends up throwing just one more obstacle into her path.

What's is your favorite scene or moment from each of the two books, and why? Can you describe them (or provide a short excerpt) for us without giving too much away?

I love parades so I decided to put one in each of my books.  In Going Cowboy Crazy, I have The Parade of Queens where all the past and present homecoming queens get to ride down Main Street on the ugliest float this side of the Pecos.  Of course, with the townsfolk convinced Faith is Hope, Faith is forced to ride right up top next to the huge Colt Peacemaker.  In Make Mine a Bad Boy, it’s the Bramble Thanksgiving Day Parade where there are more people in the parade than are watching it.  The parade has clowns, piles of horse poop, and waving town sweethearts.  There’s even a special appearance from a really hot movie star.

What are five fun facts about you or your books, that readers would love to know?
  1. Mayberry was my inspiration for Bramble, Texas
  2. Slate is a mixture of hot western movie stars
  3. Cows scare me—I think it’s the really long eyelashes and the cud chewing
  4. In a honky-tonk in Odessa, I heard stories that were even too smutty for romance readers
  5. I can’t two-step—I always want to lead.

Faith Aldridge wants answers. Bramble, Texas is the only place she can find them . . . as well as Hope, the identical twin sister she never knew she had. But the townsfolk reckon that shy city-girl Faith is really her long-lost sister Hope, back in Bramble at last. And they're fixin' to do whatever it takes to heat things up between her and Hope's long-time flame, Slate Calhoun. If that means rustling her car, spreading rumors like wildfire, and reining in some explosive secrets, well, there's no way like the Lone Star way ...

But Slate's no fool. The woman in his truck may look like Hope, yet the way she feels in his arms is altogether new. He's determined to keep this twin in his bed and out of his heart. Trouble is, the real Hope is headed home, and she's got her own designs on Slate. If Faith wants to avoid heartbreak, she'll have to show a certain ruggedly handsome cowboy that this crazy-impossible love is worth fighting for.

Hope Scroggs is finally ready to get hitched. After years of sowing her wild oats, the former head cheerleader and homecoming queen has returned to Bramble, Texas, to marry her high school flame. But her perfect wedding plans are stomped to smithereens when her adoring cowboy two-steps down the aisle with someone else. Now Hope is stuck with the one man from her past she can't shake: Colt Lomax, an irresistible bad boy whose sultry kisses are hotter than the Panhandle in August . . .

Colt lives for freedom and the open road; he never gets attached, never looks back. Still, he can't forget the night of passion he once shared with Bramble's sweetheart--a night he wouldn't mind repeating. So, he piles on the Texas charm to tease the feisty beauty back into his bed, while she tries her darnedest to resist. But something unexpected is about to tie their fates together . . . and oh, baby, will it ever!

Congratulations Katie on your debut and the entire Deep in the Heart of Texas series!  I've said it before and I will say it again, I think humor and romance are a perfect match.  I love laughter and love and this series definitely promises to have both if the books are anything like the excerpts that I've read.   And in case I forgot to mention it before....the heroes are cowboys!  That alone, along with the covers should entice you enough to pick them up and give them a try...I know it did me :)  Not to mention the fact that her publisher priced the books at only $5.99!  I love that, especially if you are able to get it at Target, or Walmart who discount their books an additional 20% (which would make them less than $5).  Nothing makes me happier than getting a good book at a great price!

If you'd like to learn more about Katie Lane and the cowboys that she writes about you can visit her at her website, on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads. Since we are approaching summer you might want to check out "Shirlene's Margaritas" recipe.  I can taste the lime wedge already :)  Katie also wrote an article for her publisher that gives a little bit of insight into the series titled, Going Cowboy Crazy Twins.

Congratulations to Kaitie on her new series. It really sounds exciting. Being an identical twin myself, I have been in Faith and Hope's position of being mistaken for my sister. Having experienced it, I wouldn't want to trade places.

Congratulations on the new series. They sound like some fun reads and perfect for a day at the beach. I think I would trade places with Oprah Winfrey since she is such a powerful woman it would be interesting to see what her life is like.

No, I wouldn't want to trade places with anyone. It may be just terrible. I'm not quite happy with myself at the moment, but it's something I'm working to change. Nah, I like being me just fine.

Parades - now there is something completely new and different. Looking forward to reading about them.

I too fell in love with a Southern Boy. We are complete opposites. I was born and raised in the Motor City, Detroit; he a SC Native. 31 years later and we're still going strong!

I can't really think of anyone that I would trade places with. I'm not afraid of cows, I love them. But horses, I am afraid of. But luckily I am also allergic to horses so I don't even have to try to get over that fear. LOL

Having gone to college in Texas I fell in love with the cowboy aura and those tight jeans! If I were to changes places it would have to be with Kenny Chesney's girlfriend for a day!

Honestly, I think I'd rather not change places with anyone. I'm certainly not perfect, but I'm familiar with my problems and how to cope with them... Everyone has problems... no matter how much money they have or how fit they are or etc. I don't think I would have answered this question this way a few years ago... but that's my answer now.
Thanks for the give-a-way!

It would be kind of nice to trade places with a billionaire like Bill and Melinda Gates. They have some great programs going using their money for worthy causes. It would be great being able to influence worthwhile change.

I can't think of anyone I'd want to trade places with. Even though some people seem like they have a fabulous life, who knows what kind of problems they have that aren't made public. I think I'd stay right where I am, at lease I know what my problems are and what I'm going to do about them.

I too hate cows, use to have to run them & 1 in particular loved to chase me...hated that cow.

I loved the Andy Griffith shoe & Mayberry...I so wanted to live there, if seemed magical.

Congratulations, Katie on the new series. it sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to read these books.

I have two identical twin brothers who are older than me and I still get them mixed up at times and they think it's hilarious. Ya know, if I could trade places with someone for a while it would be a really hot guy. I think it would be interesting to be a man for a little while and see what it's like...for a while. lol

Not only do these books sound great, but I'm loving the eye candy on the covers. YUM :)

There are day's when I would love to switch places with my sister. We lead such different lives. I'm a stay at home mom and she is a very thriving successful business. I love my kids, but there are day's when I miss being out in the adult world and working and having the money to do as I please.

Thanks for the chance to win

If I could trade places with someone, I would trade with a woman who has a man that truly loves and cares about her. I really wish for that myself. But besides that, I'm mostly happy with who I am.

I really love the blurb from Going Cowboy Crazy. I think I'll be able to feel for Faith because I'm also a shy city-girl. Would really love to read this one!

Great Interview loved your 5 answers. Mayberry is one of my mom's favorite sitcoms so I grew up watching a lot of it - still tune in to the reruns from time to time. lol you have me curious now about the stories in the honky tonk you heard!

Hmm as for trading places I don't know... I day dream occassionally (don't we all) about living somewhere else, doing something different etc., but I'd still like to be me that is the leading role in my life ;).

Congrats on the new releases! These sound like fun reads!

If I could trade places with anyone, I would probably choose someone famous, any actress would do, just so I can see what it would be like. But I probably wouldn't want that to be permanent though.
