Guest Author & Giveaway: Anita Clenney featuring Embrace the Highland Warrior

Wednesday, November 9

What makes a paranormal romance a must read for me?  Make your hero a Highland warrior,  and I can't resist it even though I don't read much paranormal romance :)  You all know I'm a sucker for a hero with a brogue and a kilt (though the kilt is optional *grin*).

Author Anita Clenney is my guest today to share a bit about the second book in her paranormal romance series, Embrace the Highland Warrior.  Read and enjoy!

Embrace the Highland Warrior is the second book in the Connor Clan series. Cody and Shay’s story is one of love, betrayal, and making peace with the past. I’m sure we’ve all experienced betrayal in some form, and know the pain and shock it can bring. Poor Shay finds out that her entire life has been a lie, and that the person she trusted more than anyone in the world knew about it. Even worse, he was part of the betrayal. And after she comes back to her childhood home, she discovers that even the betrayal was a lie. They’re hiding something much bigger than she could have imagined. If she wants to stay alive, she’ll have to let Cody help, but she isn’t prepared to face him any more than she’s prepared to face the demons and vampires trying to kill her. Here is Shay’s first glimpse of Cody, after wrestling with him in the dark:

The essence of him was still there; the boy next door who’d kept her secrets, bandaged her scrapes, and comforted her against his scrawny chest, but there was nothing scrawny about him now. He was tall, with broad-shoulders and lean muscles undisguised by his soft gray T-shirt and worn jeans. Dark hair brushed his collar, giving him a rugged, dangerous look. His face was still stunning. Strong jaw, straight nose, and those intense hazel eyes that even at nineteen had tempted married women to watch as he walked past. Her gaze caught on the scar above his eyebrow, trophy from the motorcycle wreck when he was sixteen, and she remembered the terror of finding him sprawled on the rocky hill, so still she thought he was dead.

The hurt in Cody’s eyes tells Shay that she wasn’t the only one who felt betrayed. What will he do when he finds out what she’s kept from him the past nine years?

With all hell breaking loose, Cody needs backup, so he calls in the other warriors to help protect Shay. There’s Faelan, the only warrior ever assigned two ancient demons. Born in the 19th century, Faelan was most powerful warrior of his time. He was betrayed and trapped in a time vault where he slept for 150 years, waking to a strange world filled with modern technology and even stranger…modern day females. Then there’s Ronan, 6’3 inches of raw, sexy warrior, better than Robin Hood with his bow, and equally at home with a sword or a bonny lass. Shane is quiet but the fastest with a sword, and Niall is a one-man army, built like a tree trunk. There’s Duncan, who’s brooding over more than just shapeshifting villains, and Sorcha, who likes flirting almost as much as killing demons. And Shay and Bree discover talents that shock even them.

My question is, who is your favorite hero of all time, from either a book or a movie?

They were driven apart by a timeless secret…

Cody MacBain let the woman of his destiny slip away. A member of an ancient clan of Scottish warriors, he grew up beside Shay Logan as her secret protector, but his heart compelled him to become more. Until Shay’s true identity was revealed, and the fated pair’s chance was gone…

But danger will drive them back into each other’s arms…

Shay fell for the boy next door, suspecting nothing of the ancient secrets he guarded. After a stinging betrayal, she’s determined to banish the memories of her first love forever. But the past can’t let go, and the boy she once loved has returned to her a warrior determined to protect her from the unspeakable evil fate has planned…

I read Awaken The Highland Warrior and loved it and am so looking forward to reading this one. I loved the teaser and the look into what the book is about. I'm really looking forward to reading this. I love those men in Kilts and that scottish Brogue...can't ever get enough of it.

Favorite hero is probably I know superhero but batman is like the coolest thing in leather pants. He is mysterious, wears a mask and leather pants and has a cape. He saves the day and has a badass car..

My favorite hero would be either Spiderman or Harry Dresden of Jim Butcher's books. A hard pick. Thanks for the chance to win your book!

Embrace the Highland Warrior sounds fantastic! As far as a favorite hero - that's really tough because I don't have a favorite book hero (Love all my book hero's and can't pick) so I'll go with a movie hero who's also kind of a bad boy - James Bond as played by Daniel Craig....

I am a GFC follower of the blog
I also Tweeted the giveaway:!/crazymidwestgal/status/134301442277253120

I also purchased something from the Seductive Musings store and will be sending the email

Thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks for a great post and giveaway! I just got book 1 for my Kindle and I can't wait to read it :)

I'd have to say that one of my fav heroes would have to be Mel Gibson's William Wallace from Braveheart. He played him so well, humble and fierce, and he loved his wife sooo much. This was before all the Mel craziness of course ;)

Thanks again for the giveaway!

I haven't had the chance to read book one yet, but I'm dying to, especially after all the good things I've heard about it! I'm with you--if the hero's in a kilt, I'll definitely pick up the book! :D

Favorite hero... Now that's just not a fair question, so hard to choose just one! Hmm... Well, I read Emma Holly's Kissing Midnight and Breaking Midnight books recently and I absolutely loved them, so I think I'll go with Edmund Fitz Clare, from those books. He's sexy, he loves Estelle and he loves his family (well, adopted family) very much. Oh, and did I say he's sexy? Talk about burning hot lovin'! :D

Hi Carol, we share our love of a hero. Jamie Fraser is one of my all-time favorite characters. I didn't discover Diana Gabaldon until about a year and a half ago. In the time since, I've read the entire Outlander series.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 1:14 PM

Mary, superheroes are great. I love Batman. In Embrace, the heroine finds out the cellar she and her friends were never allowed in isn't really a cellar, but something like a Batcave. That's what she calls it. I think it's referenced in the excerpt posted here.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 1:16 PM

Hello again, LadyVampire. I've only read one Harry Dresden book but I really enjoyed it. I'd love to read the entire series if I had time.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 1:17 PM

Maria, Daniel Craig is great as Bond. I couldn't stand the older Bonds, except for Sean Connery. My favorite was Pierce Brosnan until Daniel Craig.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 1:19 PM

Thanks so much, Erin. I hope you like it. Please let me know. I love feedback. Mel Gibson did a great job as William Wallace. Loved the movie.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 1:21 PM

Hi TBQ, I know, it's a tough question. :) I'm not familiar with Edmund Fitz Clare, but he sounds intriguing. I'll have to check him out.

BLHmistress November 9, 2011 at 4:31 PM

My favorite hero wow there are so many but since we are talking about highlanders today I think I will either go with Brenda's Joyce's Master of Time WArriors (I say all cause I just can't pick one) or Donna Grant's Highlanders Dark Sword Warriors.

Anita Clenney November 9, 2011 at 10:37 PM

BLMistress, ooh, both of those sound good. I haven't read either so I'll have to check them out.

chey November 9, 2011 at 11:05 PM

I can't wait to read this book!
My favourite hero is Jamie Fraser from the Outlander series.

LilMissMolly November 9, 2011 at 11:38 PM

Hi Anita! I loved your first book in this series and can't wait to read the new release!

I've always admired William Wallace. He stood up for what he believed in, changed the lives of many, and was killed for it.
