Summary from the publisher:

Seth and Leila used to have trouble keeping their hands off each other. Passion, desire, love—it was all there. Yet, eight years after their whirlwind marriage and kids, they’ve settled into a life where choosing Letterman over Leno is considered a wild night.

Seth knows things need to change. But when he hears his wife call into a relationship radio show and admit she’s been tempted to cheat, he realizes how far off course they’ve gotten. He comes up with a dramatic plan. Three days. No rings. He’ll take Leila to The Ranch, a resort where any sexual fantasy can be had, and give her the freedom to have whatever or whomever she wants.

However, Seth doesn’t intend to simply stand by and watch other men fulfill Leila’s dark desires. He has a lot more bad boy in him than his wife suspects and he knows there’s only one man who can give her what she needs. Now he has to show her why that man is him.

My Musings:

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to read Roni Loren’s first book in her Loving on the Edge series, Crash Into You, which still remains my favorite erotic romance read so far of 2012, so when I saw that she had a novella coming out from the same series, I knew it would be a must read for me.  Would it be as good as her last, or would it fail to live up to my very high expectations?

Still Into You introduces us to Seth and Leila.  A couple that has been married for eight years, and Leila fears they have reached the end of their marriage.  Leila comes from a privileged and wealthy background, but married bad boy Seth while in college after she became pregnant.  Leila has always felt that she was not quite in the same league as her gorgeous husband, and these feelings are only exacerbated after having two kids, a hectic life, and body issues.  She feels that her husband doesn’t desire her anymore and this affects her self confidence, and makes her feel undesirable, so when a client propositions her to have an affair, she is tempted and fearful of her reactions all at the same time.  She loves her husband, but is so starved for that feeling they once had for one another that she wonders if her marriage is over...especially when she is tempted to cheat.

Seth has issues of his own.  He married “up” and decided early on in their relationship that he wouldn’t treat Leila like some of the other women he had been with in the past; to tame his sexual desires due to her inexperience and her social status. He has striven ever since to prove that he can provide well for his family and give Leila the life she deserves...i.e. what she had while growing up.  He loves Leila, but feels that he was lucky that she took a chance on him, when she could have had so much more.  His need to prove that he is worthy of her has become an all-consuming obsession that could cost him the love of his life and his marriage.

This love story is very powerful and full of doubt between two people who love each other, but have grown apart due to life and fail to communicate their needs and fears to one another.  Seth realizes her marriage is about to fall apart and is desperate to try and save it by taking drastic measures.  After a series of events he decides that in order to save his marriage he needs to gift his wife with a weekend without vows at a sex club to experience all the things that she fantasizes about but never got to experience since she became a mother at a young age.  But what Leila really desires is for her husband to look at her with lust in his eyes and to show her that she is still beautiful and sexy to him.  That he would notice her again, for him to want her with an all consuming need that he has never shown her but he had a reputation for, and to make her a priority in their life.

I love that this romance involves a couple in an established relationship, experiencing troubles that are real that many readers can relate to.  But I have to admit that I was a bit fearful of the direction that this story took at the beginning, when Leila is tempted to cheat on her husband.  And then when her husband offered her a guilt free weekend without vows....well, we were entering into terriorty that is unforgiveable for many romance readers.   Would she, could she do it?  And if she did, what would that do to their marriage.  Could it be save after something like that, or was her marriage doomed anyway?  What was Seth thinking to offer something like that!

You’ll actually have to read the story to find out the answers to those questions because trying to summarize their journey in a review would be doing the nuances in this story a great injustice.  I will say that they do find their way back to each other, but it’s not without a little heartache, and some  much needed self discovery.  I really enjoyed it, especially because it was both a quick and very satisfying read.  I've been disappointed by many a novella, because I oftentimes feel that the story suffers because of the short length.  That is so not the case with Still Into You.  I didn't feel that the story needed to be any more than what it was.

Roni Loren writes unconventional love stories that are hot enough to make the pages spontaneously combust, yet also emotionally complex and beautifully told.  You don’t find that combination very least I don’t.  I think she is a must read for erotic romance lovers.  Read it, especially Crash Into You, and see for yourself.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Overall:  4.50 stars  (I loved this one almost as much as Crash Into You, which I thought was absolutely fantastic.  It's practically a perfect quick steamy why didn't it get  5 stars?  I'm pretty strict that in order for me to give a book a 5 it either has to make me laugh, or cry, and while the story was engrossing, and I cared about the couple, it didn't make me laugh or no 5)

Sensuality level:  4.25 (The couple visits a sex ranch to spice up their love life but the intimate scenes are mostly between the couple except for one public sex scene in which a third partner invited to participate and involves some very light bondage.)

I love that Seth and Leila are working through the issues in their marriage. This is such a true to life situation that I can identify with. I will be putting this on my summer reading.

A comprehensive review thank you. I like that you did not feel the story missed anything by being a novella. I always wonder. I also appreciate a book that tugs on my emotions in one way or another.

I'm glad to hear that even though it's a novella, you felt the story was complete. And how refreshing to read a story that could be about any married couple that is struggling through a rocky period. Well, except for the sex club bit. What wife doesn't want to be looked at by her husband like she is the most amazing woman on earth!?!

Hi Roni, this is one of the things I love about blogs. It introduces me to New authors that I've never read before. How long have you been writing and how many books do you have out? I look foward to reading this series.

I don't ususally read stories about long married couples, but I love the description of 'Still Into You'. Now I'm going to go off to read about 'Crash Into You'. So glad I read this post & learned about another interesting writer.

Great review.. We don't see many books where couples are together and married and trying to make things workout.. I like this book. I have never read your previous book, but I am sure it is a winner like this one.

So this book is 1.5 in the series. I see from your website that you are very early into this series and that Leila is Jace's sister from Crash Into You. And I see you have another novella planned for Ian, a character from this new book. So, what do you like to write better? A full-length novel or the shorter novellas? Of the 2, which one do you think is more difficult to write?

I haven't read many romances where the couple is already together. I'm intrigued to see how far he will go to save his marriage.

Thanks, Mel, hope you enjoy it! :)

Mary and Artemis, thanks for stopping by!

Lori, I've been writing since 2008. This is my second book (and first novella). I also having the 3rd full length (print and ebook) coming out the first week of July. Hope you enjoy the story!

Di, thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoy the book! :)

Kathleen, thanks! Hope you enjoy the book. It was a lot of fun writing about a married couple. :)

Karen, I enjoy writing both, but each have their own challenges. I tend to want to make everything into a full length novel, so keeping a novella short is a challenge. But then of course, 30k takes much less time to write than 100k full length. So it's a nice break sometimes to write something shorter.

Stacie, thanks, hope you enjoy the story! :)

Very nice excerpt.

Julianne, Right now there will be four books and two novellas for sure. I'm hoping to have at least two more full lengths after that as well. :) And hope you enjoy the book!

Bn, thanks! :)
