Summary from the publisher:

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless--and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost...until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation--or her ultimate damnation?

My Musings:

Up until The Darkest Seduction, I was never a fan of Zacharel. He always came off as distant, cold, and condescending in the previous books. Then, in The Darkest Seduction I got to know him a little bit better. I still didn’t like him but I was intrigued by him. I wanted to know his story and I was very curious as to how any woman would ever be able to put up with him. For months I had been looking forward to this book and reading all the rumors about Annabelle. I couldn’t wait to meet her.

Annabelle is unbelievable in a very good way. She’s tough, damaged, and has a huge heart. The part I found unbelievable about her is how caring she is. Annabelle watched as her parents were slaughtered and their bodies mutilated by a demon, then she was convicted of their murder, after that she was sent to a mental institution where she was abused by medical personnel. If that wasn’t enough, she constantly has to fight off demons after her. I can barely imagine anyone staying sane through that let alone retaining any empathy. It was inconceivable to me that she could possibly be so well adjusted after everything she has been though. The fact that she was gave her a super-human ability in my mind. That made her the perfect partner for Zacharel.

I enjoyed every second of seeing Zacharel’s first time feeling sexual attraction. I was almost giddy that it was with a human when he has such a low opinion of humans. Seeing Zacharel lose all control of himself because of her gave me so much satisfaction. I’m not sure if there is anything I love more than seeing a strong, dominant, unflappable man brought to his knees by a woman. I was in heaven!

The interactions of Zacharel with his warrior angels was an added bonus for me. As I got to know them I became more and more interested in their backgrounds. I’m not sure what it is, but rebel angels always seem to pique my interest. The fact that they refused to follow Zacharel’s orders only helped to endear them to me. Everyone ganging up to make Zacharel’s life difficult actually made me like him in the end. It was so much fun to see the vulnerable, tormented and confused side of him. I was pleasantly surprised that my opinion of Zacharel did a 180°, I actually loved him by the end.

Wicked Nights is a wonderful debut to the new series. I loved the guest appearances of The Lords and seeing a world I was already quite familiar with from an entirely new perspective.

Overall: 4.5 (The demon battle was a little more drawn out than I would have liked.)
Sensuality level: 3.5
