Monday's Muse

Monday, September 17

How was your weekend?  Did you read anything good?  I didn't get to read very much at all this past week *sad face*.  I've started two different books, and am in fact reading them in tandem.  Which I guess means that I can't really get into either of them.  One of them I'm about 200 pages into it.  Both received lots of good reviews....so what's the deal?  It must be me and my mood.

I read a post by author Roni Loren last week about the book "hangover"...you know that feeling you get after reading a great book and it just stays with you and lingers;  to the point that most books pale in comparison.  I think that is where I am at right now.  I've read some really great books this month, and I think I have a hangover :)  Because I'm finding it hard to recover with a new book(s).

I know what would cure it.  Defiant by Pamela Clare.  I haven't bought it yet because I can't find it in a retail store near me, so I was going to order it from Amazon, and I still plan to, but I'm cheap and hate to pay for shipping so I'm waiting until I can get my order to be $25.  For most people I'm sure it would be easy to buy $25 worth of books, but since my money is very limited I want to make the most of my $25 and I just haven't found ones that I can part $$$ with to bundle it all together.  So it remains sitting in my Amazon shopping cart waiting for some company :(  Frugality can be such a curse, LOL.

One thing I like would like to splurge on....this week's Muse.  Enjoy!
(I'm a big fan of the final image, what's yours?)

This week at Seductive Musings:
  • Tuesday:  I'll be at Romance at Random blogging about romance books that should be movies.  This was supposed to happen last week, but it had to be rescheduled for this Tuesday instead.
  • Wednesday:  Author Rebecca Rogers Maher will be my guest to celebrate her new book Fault Lines & I believe I will have a review of the book from Seductive reviewer Just Jinny.
  • Thursday:  I should have a few reviews for you, several in fact.
  • Friday:  Author Victoria Roberts will be my guest to share with us her Scottish Highland Historical Romance Temptation in a Kilt, as well as a review of the book.
  • Tempting Trailer: This week's Tempting Trailer is for Jenn LeBlanc's serial illustrated novel The Rake and The Recluse Redux.  With all of the talk the past few weeks about the return of the serial novel I thought about Jenn LeBlanc's book which came out in installments last year (?).  Makes me wonder if illustrated romances will also become more common.  Seems as if Ms. LeBlanc is a bit a ahead of her time ;)  Which is kind of fitting since her romance book involves time-travel, LOL.  Have you seen the "Big Pink Book" now that it is in print?  I was curious about the book when Jenn LeBlanc was a guest here last year to talk about it, but since it was only digital at that point I decided to wait...because it has pictures and they should be viewed in color :) Now that it's in print....I'm even more curious.

Also of Interest:
  • Remember some of the costumes that I shared with you last Friday? They are having a "Romancing the Costume" contest challenging writers (and lovers of romance novels) to write a short story about these new costume characters with the chance to win a gift card to buycostumes and one or two of their beautiful new costumes.  You can read more about it on their Facebook page.

Finally, I'd like to congratulate all of the authors with new releases this week, especially Musings authors  Beth Kery (x2 for the final installment of Because You Are Mine and The Soldier's Baby Bargain) & Lucy Monroe!  Congrats ladies!

My FREE Kindle Quest

I've wanted a Kindle for what seems like forever, but haven't been able to afford it (and that's saying something since I can justify the cost of just about ANYTHING that I really want). I've tried winning one in one of the many giveaways that have taken place over the couple of years, but with no luck :( So I've decided to take matters in hand so to speak :) I've now decided that I am going to accumulate enough Swagbucks from my Swabucks searches to buy one...so in essence my new Kindle will be FREE...funded entirely by my internet searches done on Swagbucks. I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)
Goal: $119
Current Swagbucks Amazon Gift Card balance: $90.00
If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca gift cards on this rewards site)
