Giveaway: Hot in Handcuffs Blog Hop

Wednesday, October 10

Welcome!  If this is your first time visiting Seductive Musings I hope you find some sexy &  seductively tempting reads to keep you warm as the weather gets colder ;)

I don't know about you, but I love finding great authors to add to my "must read" lists.  The hard part about that though is finding them without having to read a bunch of mediocre stories or dare I say it....books that should never have seen the light of day.  But I don't want to talk about the "average" (3 star) Erotic Romances today, I'd like to talk about the ones that you should DEFINITELY read if you haven't already done so (4+ stars).  What I consider "The Best" I've read so far this year.  And I thought it was also good to have more than one opinion, so I asked Seductive Reviewer, Michele, for some of her favorites that she's read this year too.

Here are some of my Favorite Erotic Romances with some kink :)  They feature BDSM themes, Role Playing, or just plain sizzling hotness (the hot fudge sundae version of vanilla romance). (in no particular order)
  • Roni Loren:  This is an author, not just one of her books, but her entire Loving on the Edge series.  The first book I read of hers Crash Into You completely blew me away.  It involves a dual time line story about young love, and adult love.  Normally I don't like the back and forth of past and present mixed together, but in this case it was perfect for this story.  LOVED IT!  And then I read Still Into You, which involved a married couple trying to rekindle their romance, and I was blown away again.  I don't think there are enough romances about couples in existing relationships trying to make them work and I found it lovely.
  • Katie Porter:  Yes, I am again listing the author and not just one of her books, LOL.  I first read Double Down just a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, this was one of the hottest romances I've read in a long while.  And a little unique in that it involved role playing which you also don't see very often in erotic romances...at least I don't.  I have some mad love for Double Down.  I've since read the second book in the series, and plan to read the third soon, which looks to involve a female Domme, which I also haven't read a lot of in Erotic Romance.  The authors who comprise Katie Porter seem to thrive on exploring the less explored themes in Erotic Romance, and I love that!
  • Because You Are Mine by Beth Kery:  (all 8 parts)  I'm a big fan of author Beth Kery, and because of that fact I was willing to give her new book which was released as a serial novel a chance.  Initially I didn't think I would like having the story split up into eight parts and doled out to me once a week....but you know, I actually really enjoyed it, and because it took me eight weeks to read it, it's a story that consumed my reading for almost two months.  The anticipation, the emotion, the...I wonder what will happen next, as well as the frustration of having each installment end at such a pivotal place in their romance...LOVED IT!
My list of recommended Erotic Romances with some kink is rather short this year.  It seems like a lot of the Erotic Romances that I have read so far this year are very similar, and while good I don't think I would necessarily consider them "great" reads.  And because I find that the amount of time I have to read is no as much as I would like, I have gotten to the point where "good" just isn't good enough anymore.  I want great!  I think all three of these authors deliver the goods when it comes to Erotic Romance with some kink and are well worth your time and your money :)

I haven't read as much this year as I have in the past, so I thought it might be good to ask fellow Seductive Reviewer Michele, who may in fact enjoy Erotic Romances even more than I do, to give me some of her favorite BDSM themed romances that she's read so far this year, and this is what she said:
  • 31 Flavors of Kink by Cari Silverwood & Leia Shaw & The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton:  Both of these titles deal with an ostensibly vanilla person learning how to provide the BDSM interactions needed by their sexual partner. I loved both for how they showed how difficult it was for the vanilla partner to adjust and learn but still were able to convey how much love was needed to provide this level of commitment to the success of their relationships.
  • Rough Surrender by Cari Silverwood:  The fact that this was more than just a straight romance set in the past was not obvious to me until the hero and heroine's first opportunity to spend time alone with each other. When it became clear how the hero intended to woo the heroine, it was a pleasant and well-handled surprise. The best part of this story is the progression of their admittedly unorthodox relationship concurrent with a seriously good murder mystery.
  • The Siren & The Angel by Tiffany Reisz:  These are not strictly romance novels as such, but if you are willing to travel to the Eighth Circle with the Original Sinners, you will find that true romance can bloom among the least likely of characters. Be aware that there are no taboos here, and that if you are easily offended or squeamish, these books may not be for you.
  • My Liege of Dark Haven by Cherise Sinclair:  When I read Cherise Sinclair, I know I'm going to get a fantastic romance with scrupulously accurate BDSM details. Her Masters are always the most passionate and considerate Doms, and Master Xavier is no exception. Her entire back catalog, especially the Masters of the Shadowlands series, is a must-read
  • Hostile Takeover by Joey W. Hill:  This story is the latest in the wonderful Masters of the Boardroom series and it's also the most intense. Ben is the one who never let any woman get close to him, choosing to remain unattached and emotionally unavailable. Marcie has loved Ben since she was a teenager, and now that she's of age, she's not wasting any time laying claim to Ben's heart. The payoff is worth every minute spent getting there and is a worthy successor to the rest of the series. Be sure to also read Joey W. Hill's "Nature of Desire" BDSM romance series. She's one of the best.
  • Crash Into You (Loving on the Edge #1) by Roni Loren:  Roni Loren is a new author in the BDSM romance genre but her Loving on the Edge series is already proving to be a must-buy for me. Her story of how Brynn and Reid find each other again at a BDSM resort after being pulled apart years ago by evil forces outside their control is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. I loved how she was able to keep the compelling suspense elements from overwhelming the tender romance blooming once again. There is also now a novella(Still into You) and a second entry in the series (Melt Into You) which you should definitely read as well.

Thanks Michele!  I read The Reluctant Dom a few years ago, and I have to agree it is one of the best BDSM romances I think I have ever read.  In part I think because it really helps you understand the lifstyle from the perspective of someone who is new to it.  A very powerful read.  And what can I say Cherise Sinclair is like the Queen of BDSM romances to me!  She is in a league all her own :)   I was also excited to see that Roni Loren made your list too!

I've not read Joey Hill yet, but I will definitely be adding her to my list of books to "give a try :)  Here's a recap of the books that both Michele and I enjoyed and hope you will too!

Since author Roni Loren made both my and Michele's lists of great Erotic Reads (with some kink) that we've read this year, I think it is only appropriate to giveaway one of her books for the Hot in Handcuffs Blog Hop.  I hope you enjoy "The Ranch" in Still Into You, as much as we did! (you can read my review of "Still Into You" here if you are interested)  This giveaway is open to US & International Seductive Musings followers.

This is what I get for not being able to sleep, fun posts to read! I need to check out Cherise Sinclair.
Inked Magic was a favorite of mine, love it! Had a great mix of fantasy-paranormal and hot sex.

Reflected in You by Shayla Black... I know everyone compares it to 50 shades, yada yada.. but I love the quality of the writing, the believability of the story, and the gut-wrenching emotions throughout the book. I LOVED this one, I am hopelessly addicted. You have some great recommendations, more to add to my "must-read" list :) Thanks for the contest- Book Savvy Babe

I'm fairly new to reading erotic romance, but I have to say my favourite so far is Sylvia Day's BARED TO YOU-- it's everything I was hoping the 50 Shades trilogy would be (that should teach me to agree to read a book with a friend based on the hype! I apparently didn't learn my lesson with TWILIGHT), with hot sex, excellent writing, and gut-wrenching emotions.

I've got Katie Porter's Vegas Top Guns series waiting on my Kindle, and I'm off to add some of these recs as well! :)

I loved Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley...there was so much angst and heartache for that couple that I was extra glad to see their happy ending!

Anne October 10, 2012 at 9:27 AM

Wow, I've read many this year, but since none come to mind, they must not have really affected me. I have Laid Bare by Lauren Dane which I read a year or two ago that I plan to re-read when I finish my current book. I was also glad to read about the new novella which follows up with Erin and her guys (Laid Open?).

I do have Crash Into You and Hostile Takeover on my TBR pile. After reading that you like them too, I might have to move them up the pile for this weekend. I'm not a big Joey Hill paranormal e.r. fan, but I've really enjoyed her contemporary series that Hostile Takeover is part of.

I put Katie Porter's series on my Amazon wishlist. I just started reading about her and her series ion the last week or two.

thanks for the awesome post and giveaway! To be honest, not very many books this year have been so "awesome" in my mind that I gush about them. The last erotica that I read and liked was Heat Rises by Alice Gaines. I enjoyed it but don't see myself rereading.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I have read an erotic romance this year. Shocking but true. I suppose had any of them had Paul Marron on the cover, I would have read it. ;)

It's Fear the Darkness by Alexandra Ivy. It has a lot of action, sexual tension, the best villian, and a hero who loves the heroine with everything he has. The story has a lot of emotion too. I laughed and I cried and I cursed.

Alicia,  October 15, 2012 at 7:27 PM

I read Bared to You from Sylvia Day this past year and it really stood out to me. Looking back on it, I'm not really sure why, but I remember falling in love with the story while I was reading it.

Thanks for having the giveaway!

Christine October 15, 2012 at 8:59 PM

I'm going to have to say, Carnal Compromise by Robin L. Ratham. It was the very first menage I read that contained not only m/f/m but m/m sex. It was just so deep and complex and not all about sex, but coming together and accepting not only each other but accepting their own faults, past mistakes etc that could keep them from giving the other two their heart...
Like I said, It was deep!
I loved it!
Thanks for being part of the blog hop and for your giveaway.
Best Wishes
