Guest Author & Giveaway: Lori Foster featuring Run the Risk

Wednesday, October 3

Don't you ever wonder where authors come up with the ideas for the books they write.  I find it fascinating that they can take something that other people see or stories, pictures, or just something that sparks their interest, but then takes that idea and runs with it, creating a story for us to enjoy.  Kind of like my guest author today :)

New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster is my guest today to share with us how the idea for Run the Risk, the first book in the Love Undercover series, was sparked.  Enjoy!

How did you come up with the idea for your new Love Undercover series?

It’s pretty weird how the process works for me. I almost always see a scene first, and in this case, the scene was a hunky male neighbor putting the moves on a female neighbor because she had a secret that he needed to know. When I started writing, I was unsure what the secret might be, why the heroine was keeping the secret, and why the hero needed it. See, very weird!

I’ve always been drawn to those stories where the male protagonist gets himself into deep trouble – under the best of intentions – and then has to find a way to regain the heroine’s trust. Good examples are “Loving Evangeline,” by Linda Howard, or “Scandal,” by Amanda Quick. Most of the wonderful books by Kresley Cole, too.

I love it when the characters are honorable, but are forced to do dishonorable deeds.

When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend's unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious—and in far more danger—than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her….

Pepper has spent years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new "construction worker" who's moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?

Thanks Lori for being my guest today!  I can't wait to read Run the Risk, especially after watching the book trailer. I loved her sexy daydreaming! His dimples...would get me every time despite the risk, even if the hero in the book doesn't have them, when I read the book that is what I will be picturing, LOL.

If you'd like to learn more about Lori Foster and the books she writes you can find her at her website, on Facebook and on Twitter.  One of the fun things I found on Lori's website was the video for the "dirty car art" for the Run the Risk cover.  I had absolutely no idea dirty cars could be transformed into art!  And if you haven't already entered the contest to win a trip to meet Lori in person you still have time.

To celebrate the release of Run the Risk, the first book in the new Love Undercover series, Lori & her publisher Harlequin would like to giveaway a print copy of Run the Risk to one very lucky Musings follower.  Enter to win in the Rafflecopter form below.  US & Canada only.  Follow Lori's blog tour for more chances to win!

I'm too much of a chicken to do either of the first 2, so I would have a sexy little fantasy of your own dreaming about all his various dimples:) Great video!

Considering the current state of my apartment, I'd try to arrange for him to come back or go out. There'd be some serious fantasizing either way.

In real life - I'd talk to him at the door (while blushing ten shades of red) then shut it and fall to floor in a big ole drool puddle. But...this is fantasy right? So I would go for option 3 in my dreams. Just don't tell my hubby!

Thanks so much!

No doubt I'd invite him in for coffee, have a little fantasy or two but never ever turn him away. After all, he's the hero in a Lori Foster book. What? I'd be snappin pictures like paparazzi! :)

Joanne October 3, 2012 at 1:14 PM

I'g have the sexy little fantasy of him. I wouldn't shut the door in his face and I would not invite him in for coffee so that leaves option # 3.

Have a sexy little fantasy of your own dreaming about all his various dimples like the woman in the Run the Risk video. Love the book cover. Can't wait to read the book.

bas1chs October 3, 2012 at 10:49 PM

I'd probably faint in all honesty LOL And if not I'd slam the door in his face, go get dressed and take him somewhere other than my house ;)

donnas October 3, 2012 at 11:08 PM

Out for coffee and then the fantasy.

Estella October 4, 2012 at 3:35 PM

I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)

If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both and gift cards on this rewards site)
