Monday's Muse

Monday, November 19

Do you think it's some kind of a sign that I'm exhausted from just thinking about all that I have to do leading up to Thanksgiving, not to mention all of the cooking and cleaning?  I feel like I could take a nap for about a week.  I'm looking forward to it, and not, all at the same time.

This year though I don't think I will be doing any after Thanksgiving shopping.  I've looked at several of the Black Friday ads and I honestly don't see anything that is going to tempt me from my bed.

What about you?  Do you have a big family & friends feast planned?  Will you be doing holiday shopping this weekend?  If so what is first on your hit list?  Would it tempt you from his bed?

p.s. have  you seen Shame, if so what did you think of it?

p.s.s. and if you do any online shopping @ Amazon this weekend don't forget to start your shopping via the Seductive Musings Amazon store to fund future giveaways.  Almost everything at Amazon is eligible.  Many thanks!

All I can say is Thank Goodness for microwaves. It helps so much for those of us who remember pre-microwave days. I make all the side dishes and desserts the day before. Turkey Day is just dealing with the turkey, gravy and stuffing. Even the stuffing, I tear up the bread the night before while watching tv and keep in a cover pot until ready to add the small amount of liquid seasoning, celery and onion.

I don't have to do the Holiday meals anymore. I usually go to one of my brother's homes for the holidays and my siter in laws do all the cooking... I just take something.. I really don't care about a big meal anymore. I enjoy our Christmas eve dinner of pizza and chicken wings just fine..

Anne,

I remember pre microwave days! I don't know how my mom did it. I'm going to do two days of cooking too. I actually got a recipe for mashed potatoes that you can make a day ahead and then just warm them up. I"m going to try that this year. I also have a make ahead gravy recipe that we love so I make that the day before too. But I'll still have a lot to on the day. Hope you have lots of good food and good times!

Kathleen,

I wish I could go to my brother's for Thanksgiving! But he lives like 9 hours away :( I like it when it's sort of potluck though so that way you get to try new things and it's not so much work for just one person, or the expense for that matter. I just went to the store today to pick up a few things I didn't already have and it was $50! And I didn't even have to buy the Turkey :( Hope you have a great time with your famliy!

Monday again huh. I am exhausted and it is only the beginning of the week! I think you and I should take a vacation from everything until the turkey is on the table!
Though I am excited, my sister is coming home for Thanksgiving! Yay!

I understand how you are feeling about the cooking and cleaning part. :)
At least my hubby had the whole week to help me out, since we are hosting my family this year. Then, we are off to the in-laws for more food and family.
I have to agree with you on the Black Friday sales this year. I am not seeing anything that I want to buy. Also, I am a little upset that they some are opening their doors at 8pm instead of midnight. It's supposed to be Black Friday, not Thursday.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! ;)

My FREE Kindle Quest

I've wanted a Kindle for what seems like forever, but haven't been able to afford it (and that's saying something since I can justify the cost of just about ANYTHING that I really want). I've tried winning one in one of the many giveaways that have taken place over the couple of years, but with no luck :( So I've decided to take matters in hand so to speak :) I've now decided that I am going to accumulate enough Swagbucks from my Swabucks searches to buy one...so in essence my new Kindle will be FREE...funded entirely by my internet searches done on Swagbucks. I'll keep you informed of the Great Kindle Quest below (in case you're interested....if not feel free to just skip over this part, but really who wouldn't be interested in a FREE Kindle?)
Goal: $119
Current Swagbucks Amazon Gift Card balance: $90.00
If you'd like to learn how you can earn Swagbucks and earn your own Amazon Gift Cards to buy books, a Kindle or other merchandise sold at Amazon contact me and I would be more than happy to tell you how I plan to go about it. (just so you know you can earn both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca gift cards on this rewards site)
