Cover Reveal: School of Gallantry series by Delilah Marvelle

Friday, November 30

Happy Friday my lovelies! Sorry I'm posting so late today, but I've been a busy cover making bee the last few days.  Which brings me to what I have to share with you...

Do you remember a few years ago when Delilah Marvelle campaigned to save her School of Gallantry series, from being cut with her then publisher (who has since gone under)?  Readers rallied to try to save it because they wanted the rest of the stories in the series, but sadly it was "The End".  That is, until self publishing became a popular alternative for authors to give their readers what they want :)  The saying "Good things come to those who wait"  and this couldn't be more true in this instance.

Several months ago Delilah contacted me and asked if I would be interested in creating the covers for a series that she was going to self publish.  And I was like,  YES!  I was so excited, and then she sent me the image she already selected for the first cover from photographer Jenn LeBlanc and I just about died!  DIED.  Seriously, I thought I had died and gone to cover heaven, LOL.  Then she sent me the second, then the third...and I couldn't wait to share them with you all, but Delilah, in her brilliance decided that she wanted to wait and reveal all three covers at once.  And today is the day!  Finally.

You can see all three covers with before and after pics, and interview with Delilah, as well as a giveaway of the first two books in the School of Gallantry series.  Check it out at Romancing Rakes for the Love of Romance.  Which one is your favorite?  Lady of Pleasure, Master of Pleasure, or Night of Pleasure?  I'm so excited about these!  In order to help you get ready for the release of all three in 2013 I think we should all read the first two books.  And to help with that I'd like to loan the first book, Mistress of Pleasure to one Musings follower via a Kindle loan.  Just tell me which one of the new covers is your fav and why.  I'll randomly select  a comment on Monday and contact the winner via email.

Share the Love: Leave Me Breathless by Cherrie Lynn

Thursday, November 29

Sorry this is going to be short and sweet, but I'm just a tad busy working on book covers :)  However, I did want to take a few and share with you a book that I read this week and absolutely loved!  It hit all the right erotic romance buttons for me.  The book I'd like to share with you was Leave Me Breathless by Cherrie Lynn.

I read Rock Me by the same author earlier this year, or could have been late last year, and enjoyed it immensely (not to mention the tattooed and pierced hero...and yes we are talking everywhere that counts, LOL)  I've been waiting for the next book in the series, and it was recently released with Samhain so I picked it up and I devoured it.  It was one of those "I'm just gonna finish reading this chapter", that turned into a 2 am "I'm gonna pay for this tomorrow, but damn that was good!"  Yes, the book made me lose sleep :)  And yep, I paid for it the next day :)  But it was worth it.

Here's a little bit about the book that made me lose sleep:

Leather and lace don’t strike sparks. Or do they?

It’s Valentine’s Day, but Macy Rodgers isn’t feeling the love. Aside from a torrid, one-night fling in a backseat a few months back, her love life has been sorely lacking, but fortunately she has devious friends who feel like playing Cupid. Wouldn’t they be shocked to learn that the match they’ve made for her is the same one that steamed up the back of that ’69 GTO…

Seth “Ghost” Warren has just returned to town after an extended absence. Between his grandmother’s failing health, his job as a tattoo artist, his band’s gigs, and a crazy ex who won’t leave him alone, he’s stretched thin. Cautious cowgirl Macy is the last thing he needs thrown into the mix.

She’s all country, he’s all heavy metal—and Macy knows that if anyone can propel her out of her rut, it’s Seth. But when their worlds collide, it’s anyone’s guess if they’ll survive with their hearts intact.

Product Warnings
Contains explicit sex, graphic language, road trips, troublemaking exes, emotional baggage, and an unconventional but exceptionally hot hero tatted and pierced for your pleasure…

Needless to say Cherrie Lynn is fast becoming a favorite on mine.  All I can say is, MORE PLEASE!  And since I bought the Kindle version of Leave Me Breathless from Amazon, and lending is allowed, I would love to share this book with one Musings follower.  Just let me know if you are interested in the comments and I will randomly select a comment and email you Friday to arrange borrowing the book via Amazon.  That way you can enjoy it this weekend if you'd like.

And while it's not Monday, I have another Muse to share with you, especially since we're sharing the book love today.  I saw this on Facebook this week, and couldn't help but think of the heroes in this series since they are into ink.  You can thank me later, LOL. Seriously though, if you love erotic romance that is really hot, but also has a storyline that is much more than just smexin', then you should be reading Cherrie Lynn.  If you're not already reading her stories then you are really missing out IMO.

p.s. while this is a sequel to Rock Me, you can read Leave Me Breathless without having read the previous book.  But I can almost promise you that you will want to read it after reading this one :)

Guest Author & Giveaway: Jodi Redford featuring Checking it Twice

Wednesday, November 28

What's better than one day of menage love stories?  Two!  No, three!  Yep, that's right I have another hot for the holidays menage erotic romance to share with you.  Seems only appropriate don't you think?

Author Jodi Redford is my guest today and she's not only sharing her recipe for a perfect love story in Checking it Twice, but also what looks like a sinfully decadent holiday recipe and a chance to win a Kindle Fire!  Enjoy!

~~~***~~~
Hero and heroine. Two perfect ingredients for the perfect love story, right? But in my world, love rarely goes as planned. And in the case of my newest release, Checking It Twice, it includes one other vital ingredient: Hero number two. So how do I go about creating a recipe for an unconventional love story? It all starts with conflict and a heaping tablespoon of temptation.
Prep stage:
Jana Colton, my heroine, has been crushing on hero #1, Kevin Monahan, for the last five years. She’s tried every seductive trick in the book to get him into the sack, but Kev has always found a way to resist her. While most women might admit defeat at this point, Jana decides to turn up the heat with a full scale seduction guaranteed to bring that hunky chef to his knees.
Now comes a heavy dash of that aforementioned conflict. Kevin has big secrets he’s been keeping from Jana. Secrets from his past that fuel his determination to keep Jana at arm’s length. Another of those secrets is his predilection for voyeurism. Look but don’t touch. If he can just hold firm to that personal mandate until he takes that new executive chef position in Vegas, he’ll be home free.
Did I mention things rarely go as planned?
Add spice and simmer. Enter hero #2, Nick Pappas. Nick and Kevin are estranged best friends who have a past history of sharing women. If there’s anyone who knows how to lead Kevin into temptation, it’s Nick. Not that Nick hasn’t been dealing with his own temptation. For the last year, he’s been carrying on a long distance flirtation with Jana, and she’s a large part of the reason why he made the trip to Michigan. But it becomes instantly clear to him that Kevin is in love with Jana, and Nick suspects that the demons from Kev’s past are responsible for Kevin’s reluctance to give in to his desire. Fortunately Nick has a sexy plan up his sleeve. One that will lead to Jana having two heroes in her bed this Christmas.
Bring to a roiling boil. The hotter things get between Jana, Kevin and Nick, the harder Jana falls for both men. But with Christmas drawing nearer and nearer, she has to face the very real and scary possibility that the New Year might not bring her a happily ever after with the two men she loves.
Now I could tell you how the rest of this recipe turns out, but what would be the fun in that? Never fear, chef Kevin is going to help me make up for leaving you hanging like that by showing you how to make Soda Cracker Candy. Yummy! A sweet, delicious treat that goes perfect with a hot, sinful book. *cough, cough*
Tis the season for double seduction
The only item on Jana Colton's Christmas list this year is Kevin Monahan. Preferably naked in her bed. The delicious, hunky chef has been resisting her forever, but she's pulling out all the sexy stops this holiday. Especially since his acceptance of an out-of-state job threatens to nix her quest to rock his boxers off.
Jana has always been Kevin's personal Kryptonite, but giving in to her isn't an option. Relationships are a four-letter word in his book. He cares far too much for Jana to let his emotional baggage ultimately break her heart.
With the arrival of his best friend, Nick Pappas, the balance of temptation shifts. From their past history of sharing women, Nick knows every dirty trick it takes to lead Kevin astray, and he's not afraid to use them. Particularly since Nick's convinced that Jana is exactly what Kevin needs to be happy and whole.
Their game of seduction quickly snowballs into something that feels an awful lot like love--in triplicate. But with Kevin dead set on leaving Michigan, there's a real possibility it could be a blue Christmas for them all.
Warning: This book contains an extremely tormented voyeur, a very naughty and not so saintly Nick, a liberal application of candy cane-flavored body paint, a buzzing butterfly, and enough raunchy fun on a sex swing to melt a snowman...or two.
Congrats Jodi!  Thanks for being my guest today and not only sharing your new book with us, but also that recipe for Soda Cracker Candy.  I have to admit when I first read the title for the recipe I was not the least tempted, then I looked it up and saw a picture and read some of the reviews...now I think I'm going to add this to my holiday baking this year :)  Yum indeed!
If you'd like to learn more about author Jodi Redford you can find her at her website www.jodiredford.com, her blog, Facebook & Twitter
My Musings:
First off, this book is a sequel to The Naughty List which I did not realize until I started reading.  It is not necessary to read the first book to enjoy Checking it Twice, but it was so much fun I have already ordered the first one.
Jana and Kevin have know each other for five years and have been in love/lust for most of that time.  Due to emotional issues in Kevin’s past, he has resisted his feelings for her although Jana has done her best to seduce him.  He knows that he is incapable of giving Jana what she needs in a relationship. Years ago, he even lost his best friend due to his problems.
And now, he is leaving town . . . for good.
Jana loves Kevin and cannot understand why he won’t give them a chance.  She is also worried about her feelings for Nick.  Although they have never met, they have carried on a long distance flirtation through phone and email.  Can she really be in love with two men?
So, guess who comes to town and just happens to be Kevin’s long-lost best friend?
Nick has regretted the end of his friendship with Kevin for years.  Now that he has found him, he is not going to lose him again.  He has also realized his feelings for Jana have gone beyond a flirtation and it is time for them to meet face-to-face.  What he did not realize is that Jana is in love with another man.  Kevin.
Nick has known Kevin since they shared a room in college and that is not all they shared.  Kevin’s voyeurism kink quite often let to M/F/M threesomes. Kevin’s background has made him ashamed of his sexual preferences.  He is afraid to get close to anyone because he “knows” they will leave him when they find out what he is really like. But Nick knows that there is no reason Jana should have decide which man she really loves.  She can have Kevin and Nick too.
Jana is not at all adverse to a relationship with both men.  After all, her brother is in such a relationship already. --Remember book one, The Naughty List?-- And Jana is not shy about going after what she wants.
I loved this book.  It was a light, fun read, but there was also emotional depth.  Kevin, Nick, and Jana are all wonderful characters.  There were times I wanted to tell Kevin to get over himself, but that is only because I wanted everyone to be happy.
Read this book!  Especially if you like M/F/M menages, light bondage, and some really hot shower scenes.
Review: Billionaire Bad Boys Club by Emma Holly
Tuesday, November 27
Title:   Billionaire Bad Boys Club*
Author: Emma Holly
Series: N/A
Genre: Erotic romance
Publisher: Self published
Format: e-book
Date/Year: 2012
Reviewed by:  ELF
*This book was provided to the reviewer in exchange for an honest review
Summary from the publisher:
Self-made billionaires Zane and Trey have been a club of two since they were eighteen. They’ve done everything together: play football, fall in love, even get smacked around by their dads. The only thing they haven’t tried is seducing the same woman. Executive chef Rebecca Eilert learned early on not to trust anyone. She raised her brothers by herself—with no adult being the wiser. Her knack for cooking kept a roof over the twins’ heads. Now she’s damned if it won’t pay their way through Harvard as well. Add in running Trey’s latest restaurant, and her plate is way too full for romance. That’s an attitude the bad boys intend to change. Zane and Trey have set their sights on the sexy chef. When their hearts enter the equation and they both fall for her, the committed twosome faces their hardest test of all . . .
My Musings:
Trey Hayworth and Zane Alexander have come a long way from being next door neighbors who had to tolerate the abuse of their respective fathers.  They have formed a partnership in their professional and personal lives even as they have continued to date women through the years but they have both learned to never give up.  Fortunately for them, they find a way to parlay their determination into success.
Rebecca Eilert was faced with responsibility early in her life and has demonstrated grit and determination to help her small family survive.  She has achieved professional success as a chef but is still struggling to give her brothers all of the support that she wants to.  Little does she expect to find not just one but two amazing men who tempt her to put aside her professional career and just enjoy life a little and indulge her carnal desires.
A sizzling tale of the romance that blossoms between three very driven and hardworking individuals who have overcome the difficult backgrounds that shaped them yet have scars that may hinder their ability to form a lasting commitment.  Trey and Zane independently discover that Rebecca is different from all of the other women they have dated but they are shocked by the intensity of their attraction for her.  They all must find the courage to reach for the lasting love that is within reach.
I thought this book was an ideal blend of erotica and romance.  The poignant descriptions of the trauma that each of the main characters experiences gives an emotional depth to the tale yet is balanced by the very spicy encounters that are described.  Those who are uncomfortable with M/M or M/F/M encounters should avoid this book but those who are a little more adventurous in their tastes should savor this wonderfully heated love story.
Guest Author & Giveway: Sara Brookes featuring Reclaiming the Edge
Monday, November 26
Do you like Quickie reads?  Sometimes that is exactly what I am in the mood for.  Getting right to the heart of the matter, no messing around.  And for a romance junkie who needs a fast fix, it's just what the romance doctor ordered, LOL.
Author Sara Brookes is my guest today to share with us her new Ellora's Cave Quickie, Reclaiming the Edge, a menage romance with secrets, sobs & some steamy sex.  Enjoy!
~~~***~~~

Even though Reclaiming the Edge is a Quickie and only just over ten thousand words, writing Dalton, Erin and Cade’s vignette was…difficult. Certain parts were more difficult than others, too. Not because the characters weren’t talking to me—they were. Quite rapidly in fact. There were times I was certain I couldn’t keep up with my fingers flying over the keys of the keyboard. This triad obviously wanted to have this piece of their story told and weren’t happy to have it tucked away into someone else’s book, which was actually the original intent of this particular storyline.

Not only is Reclaiming the Edge sweltering hot it terms of the ménage sex between these three, there is also a very intense emotional storyline. I thought it would be impossible to do in only ten thousand words, but as I discovered, this triad surprised me once again.

But by far the most difficult thing to write in Reclaiming the Edge was the anguish Erin experiences when she is at her most vulnerable. Here she is finally reconnecting with the two men she loves more than anything—and who love her in return—only to crash. Hard. She’s been carrying a secret around with her for months and they unknowingly pull it from her after an intense BDSM scene that has put her deep into subspace. The two men’s care and handling of her both during and after this emotional outburst is heart wrenching and gives even more concrete evidence why these three most definitely belong together.

The sexual journey of Dalton, Cade and Erin begins in Ragged Edge. You won’t want to miss the beginning of their lusty connection!

It isn’t a birthday celebration without a little pain to chase the pleasure—at least according to Dalton and Cade, the two men who stole Erin’s heart. Relationships are complicated and Erin has been retreating—both emotionally and physically—from her lovers. Pushed away for reasons they don’t understand, and determined to erode her resistance, the men devise a wicked plan. They intend to use two very special gifts and one captivating night to reclaim her submission. But Erin’s trip to subspace extracts a heart-wrenching confession that threatens to rip the triad apart forever.

Warning: Contains a well-trained, dirty-talking submissive who succumbs to the commands of her Master, custom nipple clamps, tongue wagging oral sex, a well-deserved punishment with a butt plug, men who share more than a few heart-racing kisses and a custom-made-work-of-art sex chair that shows this M/M/F triad just how powerful their passion for one another is. And that’s just chapter one.

Read an excerpt & enjoy this additional special excerpt:
“I haven’t seen that look in your eyes in a very, very long time.” Dalton stepped out of the shadows, his fingers capturing her chin to tilt her face to accommodate for their vast height difference. His lips brushed lightly against hers. “I’ve missed it.”

His arresting gray eyes had always been something she got lost in, especially when he looked as if he could devour her at any moment. The pleasurable thought did a lazy slide low in her gut.

Licking her lips, she reminded herself why she’d come here. “You’re late.”

“Seeing you look that way was totally worth it.” Dalton smiled, his fingers skimming against her forehead as he brushed her long fall of strawberry-blonde bangs out of the way. His warm lips pressed against her skin before he gathered her close to his body. She’d always felt so tiny in his arms, his muscular bulk nearly overwhelming. Trapped in his embrace, she’d once been so safe and secure, as if nothing could touch her because she was invincible.

Thanks Sara for being my guest today.  I'm very intrigued by Erin's secret, not to mention the steamy menage storyline :)  I just don't know how you managed to fit all of that into a story that is less than 40 pages!   That's what I call a satisfying quickie, LOL.

If you'd like to learn more about Sara Brookes and the books she writes you can find her at her website www.sarabrookes.net, Facebook, and Twitter.

Monday's Muse

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  Mine was pretty good, I just wish all of my family would have been home :(  Come Christmas when everyone is here I may be rethinking that wish, LOL.

I did in fact go out shopping on Black Friday.  For two things and neither of them for me, being the sucker nice person that I am I was somehow talked into going out.  I did my thing, and came promptly home.  Though staying in bed would have been better :)  I definitely should earn some brownie points for that one in case anyone that I know and love is listening :)  How did you do?  Did you get any amazing deals?

Today, Little Love is off of school and since she is learning to read and write I thought we would start writing her letter to Santa.  I'm thinking of writing Santa a letter of my own to drop off in the Macy's box.  It'll start like this...."Dear Santa,  I've been a very good girl this year, but next year I'd like to be just a little bit bad.  All I want for Christmas this year is one thing, and I'm including a picture just so there's no misunderstanding...."  Or something along those lines.  So what is it that I want, just this week's Muse.  What would you like Santa to leave for you?

  • Thursday & Friday:  Are kind of up in the air.  I might have reviews or October reads from the Seductive crew (now that November is almost over...I'm such a loser!).  I have two new book covers starting this week so this may or may not happen.
  • Tempting Trailer: This week's Tempting Trailer is not for a particular title, or author, but for a publisher, Samhain (one of my fav digital first publishers).  I happened across it last weekend and it made me smile and it was so much fun I knew I had to share it with all of you. I just love that as the video goes on he looses more clothes as well as the double entendres, LOL. Enjoy! (p.s. make sure you check out the Also of Interest" section for HUGE Samhain discounts today only!

Also of Interest:  (don't skip this one!)
  • Samhain Publishing is having a Cyber Monday sale that is extremely hard to resist!  Are you ready.... 50% off from 12 am-8:59am EST with promo code EARLYBIRD.  Then from 9 am-11:59 pm EST you get 40% off with promo code CYBERMONDAY.  Might I suggest Vivian Arend, Katie Porter, and the new Cherry Lynn, "Leave Me Breathless".  Some of my more recent Samhain purchases that I've enjoyed :)  I'm gonna go through my wishlist and then decide how much I can spend, LOL.  I wonder if that discount applies to the already reduced new release price?  That would be almost be like getting it for free :)

Review: The Prince by Tiffany Reisz

Tuesday, November 20

Title: The Prince*

Series: Original series #3
Genre: Erotic fiction
Publisher: Harlequin MIRA
Format: ebook and print
Date/Year: November 20, 2012

Summary from the publisher:

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...preferably in bed. That's always been Kingsley Edge's strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it's Kingsley's chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he's ever wanted -- Søren, Nora's on-again, off-again lover -- until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and she's in "his" world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren's relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make... unless someone makes it for her....

My Musings:

Note:  This review contains spoilers from The Angel. If you have not read The Angel, please stop here.

At the end of The Angel, book 2 in the Original Sinners series, we are left with Nora reconnecting with Wesley and what appears to be the end of the perceived danger to Nora which had begun with the theft of her file from Kingsley’s townhouse. But as we soon find within The Prince, the danger to Nora is still present and very real. This is why Søren has practically thrown her into the arms of Wes and why it will take both Søren and Kingsley to discover what is threatening the peace and safety of the 8th Circle.
“His pet’s run off, and this time, she hasn’t got her collar.”

While Nora is attempting to find her niche within Wesley’s rarefied and decidedly vanilla world, Kingsley is hoping to leverage her absence to his greatest advantage. After all, before Søren was hers, he was Søren's. The Prince is the story of not only the dangerous present, but also the inescapable past, where decisions made in the throes of passion lead to unintended consequences in the here and now. In it, we learn how Kingsley and Søren's relationship began and how it directed what would happen years before Nora had been Eleanor, long before she had even been born. At the same time, we see Nora come to terms with what she feels for Wesley as he continues on the same path of devotion he began all the way back at the beginning of The Angel. The place where everyone’s paths intersect is where the true danger begins.
“I’ve read Machiavelli, too. The Prince. It is better to be feared than loved.”

It should come as no surprise that I absolutely loved this book. Yet, if you had told me a year ago that I would shed tears over the intimate scenes between Søren and Kingsley, I’d have said you were crazy. The genius of Tiffany Reisz is how she draws you into her world of the Original Sinners so slowly and surely that by the time you realize what you are reading and how you are reacting to it, it’s all much too late to change your mind. The seduction is complete.

As always, please be advised that there are no taboos that Tiffany Reisz isn’t willing to explore, no line she won’t cross, no bar to what she will reveal. If you are easily offended by any sort of sexual taboo, this is likely not the book for you. More’s the pity.
“What? You’re telling me romance novels and erotica novels aren’t one hundred percent realistic with the sex scenes? I’m shocked.”

Ready to move on with his life post-divorce, Oliver is conflicted by the realization that he's attracted to women and men. Or more specifically, to Beth and Josh. He tries to keep his distance, but it's not long before the chemistry between the trio combusts in a night of mind-blowing sex.

In the light of day, it's clear something deeper than desire is growing between Josh, Beth and Oliver. But though Josh has helped others find love in unconventional relationships, is he willing to take a chance on one himself?

My Musings:

"Calling the Shots" is the fourth entry in Christine d’Abo’s Long Shots, and the first full length novel in the series. I wasn’t familiar with the previous three novellas, but had no problem enjoying it as a stand-alone story.

Josh is the classic example of a guy who is there for everyone else but never asks for anything in return. He started the Mavericks sex club in Toronto to provide a place he’d never had growing up, one where people with unconventional sexual desires could experience their fantasies safely without being judged. Now he wants to open a new Mavericks club in Montreal, confident that the original location will be safe in the hands of Beth, his assistant manager and Oliver, his head bartender. When he realizes that Beth and Oliver are attracted to each other but not doing anything about it, he decides to play matchmaker, even if it means he has to be part of the match temporarily to get things moving.

Both Beth and Oliver have good reasons why they are both wary of acting on the explosive attraction between them. Beth’s previous job at the Pulled Long coffee shop had ended when she’d been fired on the spot for having sex in the back with her co-worker Mitch. It was no way for them to begin a relationship, but it was still painful for her when she caught Mitch cheating on her and kicked him out. The last thing she wants to do is endanger her friendship with Oliver and her fresh start at Mavericks by making the same terrible mistake. But it’s becoming more difficult to resist how much she wants to be with both Oliver and Josh.

Oliver is still reeling from a betrayal by his soon-to-be ex-wife, who not only cheated on him and belittled him over his submissive preferences in bed, but also cleaned out their shared bank account before letting Oliver know that their marriage was over. Now that he’s started over in Toronto tending bar at Mavericks, Oliver’s emotional wounds are still too fresh to trust anyone with his heart, but he can’t deny how drawn he is to not only Beth, but to Josh as well.

This was a beautifully written story of how three damaged hearts learn to love each other as they work through the trust issues that threaten to keep them apart. It was incredibly satisfying to see Beth and Oliver first admit their feelings for each other with Josh’s help and then turn as a pair toward Josh to show him he was just as necessary to their future as they were to his. The path to their happy ending is neither easy nor straightforward, and personal demons had to be confronted along the way. Christine d’Abo does a fantastic job of showing how Josh, Beth and Oliver each bring something unique and irreplaceable to the relationship, and why they each keep making decisions that will delay, but not ultimately prevent, the future together that they all deserve.

I enjoyed Calling the Shots so much that I’ve already gone back and read the previous three novellas. It is the crown jewel of a wonderful series.

Review: Double Vision by Cassandra Carr

Title: Double Vision*
Author: Cassandra Carr
Series:  Buffalo Intimidators #3
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Publisher:  Siren
Format: E-book
Date/Year:  September 2012
Reviewed by: Michele

*This book was provided to the reviewer by the author in exchange for an honest review

Summary from the publisher:

Everything Red knew about relationships is called into question when he stumbles upon his roommate Fredrik and his girlfriend Liz going at it hot and heavy and Liz invites him to join them. Struggling with recovering from a knee injury, the young defense man doesn't know what to make of his attraction to Liz--after all, she's his teammate's woman, right?

As an older player, Fredrik's been around the rink a time or ten, and he knows he has an awesome thing going with Liz. He envisions a future with her, but isn't sure how their interludes with Red fit into the long-term picture.

Liz thinks Fredrik's her forever-guy, but her sudden attraction to Red is causing doubts. The more they play together in the bedroom, the more their outside lives--and emotions-- become entangled. When the unthinkable happens, all three must take a hard look at what they want and make some surprising decisions in the process.

My Musings:

The Buffalo Intimidators are a hockey team renowned for their consistently winning seasons, and as shown in previous series installments, their players’ apparent predilection for menage relationships. But unlike the previous two books in the series, in Double Vision the move toward a permanent triad comes from the older player and his girlfriend, not from the two men looking for a woman who is willing to love them both. This is the story of those two teammates discover that the woman loved by one of them could be the woman loved by both of them.

Fredrik and Liz are an established couple, sharing their lives and beginning to plan for their long term future once Fredrik retires from playing professional hockey. The idea of inviting Red to their bed was initially Liz’s, as she’d always wanted to try a threesome and Red was clearly interested in her sexually. Red is younger and much less experienced, and was raised in a very traditional household where the idea of two men sharing one woman was not to be discussed, let alone tolerated. Both Fredrik and Liz want Red to see that their connection could be more than a temporary sexual fling. What will it take for Red to realize that they need him as much as he can’t seem to admit he needs them?

I’m a big fan of the Buffalo Intimidators series, not only for the satisfying portrayals of committed multiple partner relationships, but also for how they are seamlessly incorporated into the daily lives of professional hockey players. My own knowledge of hockey is minimal at best, yet for me, Cassandra Carr successfully conveys the level of personal commitment required for a player to remain at the top of his game without shirking his responsibilities to his teammates. I also love how she manages the level of suspense for whatever external dilemma might be required to bring around the partner still unsure about the relationship. When that moment arrives for Fredrik, Liz and Red, this perfect level of exposition results in a most satisfying ending.

I don’t know if we’ll see any further additions to this series, but I’ve enjoyed it enough to start working my way through other series by Cassandra Carr. I’m looking forward to more of that steady hand balancing stories of people with demanding athletic careers pursuing genuine emotional connections (and seriously hot sex).

Review: No Reservations by Lilly Cain

Title: No Reservations*
Author:  Lilly Cain
Series: Bad Girls Know #1
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Publisher:  Carina Press
Format: E-book
Date/Year:  October 29, 2012
Reviewed by: Michele

*This book was provided to the reviewer by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Summary from the publisher:

Travis Morgan is thrilled to encounter the one woman who's never failed to get his blood pumping. Seeing Alicia Davis again brings it all back: their fierce academic rivalry, and the fact that he never followed through on his erotic fantasies about her.

Alicia can't resist Travis's smoldering sensuality-or the opportunity to finally bed the man who starred in so many of her lustful daydreams in college. Unable to avoid the temptation to best Travis one more time, Alicia plans to submit to one night of pure pleasure and then leave Travis empty-handed and craving more.

When Travis wakes up and realizes Alicia's played him, the gloves are off, and the game heats up as they each try to emerge on top-by whatever means necessary...

My Musings:

This was a fun fast read with two winning characters whose unfinished business kept getting in the way of the happy-ever-after they didn’t even know they wanted.

The setup was simple: Travis needed to fly home immediately, Alicia was the only one with available seats with her business jet service. They’d been attracted to each other back in college, but their cut throat competitions for the best grades had wrecked their chances at a future together and they’d gone their separate ways....until now. It’s obvious the attraction is still there, and they’re both unattached. But can they get beyond their past to have that future together at last?

I still can’t believe this story was only 15,000 words. The author did a wonderful job at not only the original setup and rejoining of their competition, but also filling in the blanks of their shared past without spending too much time telling instead of showing. I felt like I knew what was going on in both Alicia and Travis’ minds, and why they were behaving so stubbornly, even though all I wanted was them to realize that they were meant to be together.

The sex scenes were explicit, as expected, but the feelings were genuine and the outcome well earned. I definitely wish that "No Reservations" had been longer, but only because I wanted to continue following Alicia and Travis in their new life together, not because I felt like anything had been missing up until the end of the story. It was well-structured and an enjoyable read, with characters I hope will turn up in another story by this author in the near future.

Monday's Muse

Monday, November 19

Do you think it's some kind of a sign that I'm exhausted from just thinking about all that I have to do leading up to Thanksgiving, not to mention all of the cooking and cleaning?  I feel like I could take a nap for about a week.  I'm looking forward to it, and not, all at the same time.

This year though I don't think I will be doing any after Thanksgiving shopping.  I've looked at several of the Black Friday ads and I honestly don't see anything that is going to tempt me from my bed.

What about you?  Do you have a big family & friends feast planned?  Will you be doing holiday shopping this weekend?  If so what is first on your hit list?  Would it tempt you from his bed?

p.s. have  you seen Shame, if so what did you think of it?

p.s.s. and if you do any online shopping @ Amazon this weekend don't forget to start your shopping via the Seductive Musings Amazon store to fund future giveaways.  Almost everything at Amazon is eligible.  Many thanks!

This week at Seductive Musings:

Guest Author & Giveaway: Olivia Cunning featuring Double Time

Friday, November 16

Yesterday we were talking about secrets, so I thought we might as well continue with a few more, but this time not the author's secrets but the hero's.  Because you see this hero has quite a few naughty little secrets....some of them are not quite so secret, at least not anymore!

Erotic Romance author Olivia Cunning is my guest today to share with us her newest book in her Sinners on Tour series, Double Time, featuring the hero, Rhythm Guitarist hottie, Trey Mills as she spills 10 of his not so dirty little secrets.  Enjoy!

 ~~~***~~~
 Trey’s 10 Dirty and Not So Dirty Little Secrets
10. He lost his virginity to an older woman. Much older. He lost his “other” virginity to his best friend and band mate, Brian Sinclair.
9. Trey faints at the sight of blood. This is a recent discovery.
8. His brother, Dare Mills, lead guitarist of Exodus End owes him his life.
7. Few people know Trey’s real middle name. The one that is publically known is fake. His real middle name is Sol. His mother chose it; she’s a bit of a flower child. Trey is his mother’s sunshine. His brother, Dare, is her moon.
6. He likes cherry suckers. That’s not much of a secret, but his addiction to them started when he quit smoking. He actually likes all things cherry, including the naughty things that word implies.
5. Trey has his tongue pierced, but he only wears a ball and barbell through it for “special occasions” because the guys in his band, Sinners, can’t stand the way he talks when he wears it. He doesn’t do much talking when he wears it anyway.
4. Trey is left-handed. His handwriting is atrocious. It takes him longer to pick up the riffs lead guitarist, Brian, write’s because Brian is right-handed.
3. Trey is bisexual. Try-sexual? He’ll try anything as long as it brings him pleasure. His little black book is the size of a dictionary.
2. Trey’s real name is Terrance, but don’t expect him to answer if you call him by that name. Unless you’re a blood relative.
1. Trey has an excellent singing voice and the song he wrote, "Fallen", has an interlude that he sings at vocalist Sed Lionheart’s insistence. Sinners only has two ballads in their repertoire of songs and Trey wrote both of them. I guess that means he’s a bit of a softy. The first song he wrote is "Goodbye Is Not Forever", which is about his dog that got hit by a car, and the second "Fallen" is about his brush with addiction to prescription painkillers.
Olivia Cunning delivers the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a wicked sense of humor in this menage story featuring the hottest guy in the Sinners band.
Trey Mills, the notoriously sexy Sinners rhythm guitarist, gives up his bisexual lifestyle and is swept into a hot, heady romance with Reagan Elliot, a female rock star sensation. But when Trey encounters Reagan's sexy bisexual roommate, Ethan Conner, he can no longer deny who he is or what he wants. Reagan heartily agrees to a solution that opens up a hot new world of sexual experience--and love--with the two men she wants the most.
Thanks Olivia for being my guest today and sharing Trey in all his naughty yumminess with us :)
If you'd like to learn more about Olivia Cunning and the books she writes you can find her at her website, her blog, and on Facebook,   I especially enjoy her Fun Stuff which has all sorts of goodies and temptations on it.  But my favorite...is the Sinners on Tour site where you would swear that the band is real, so it's a good thing she has on there that it is fictional, LOL.
To celebrate the release of Double Time, which is the third book to be released in the Sinners on Tour series, but the 5th book chronologically, her publisher Sourcebooks would like to giveaway a print copy of the book to one lucky Musings follower.  Enter to win in the Rafflecopter form below.
Guest Author & Giveaway: KC Klein featuring Texas Wide Open
Thursday, November 15
Secrets.  Generally I'm against them, because they usually involve something bad.  In which case the secret becomes a burden. So not my thing.  But I guess some secrets can be good...like a secret crush.  Those can be quite delicious :)  I don't like surprises, so I can't think of any other good kinds of secrets.  You'd think I could come up with more, but I haven't, so  I think it's best to leave that up to the professionals, like KC Klein:)
Author KC Klein in my guest today to share some not so secret secrets about her life as a writer, and reveals some secrets about her new contemporary romance, Texas Wide Open, which appears to have lots of steamy secrets to impart.    Enjoy!
 ~~~***~~~

 The Secret Life Of A Writer

First, I wanted to say thank you to Seductive Musing for helping me celebrate (Whoo Hoo!) the release of the first book in the Texas Fever series, TEXAS WIDE OPEN which will be out on November 15th.

I am probably the most un-secretive person out there, so I am constantly on the lookout for everyone else’s little skeletons to cannibalize.

Secrets and writers is an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one. Really, nothing is sacred to a writer—or at least not to me. My husband’s jokes, co-workers’ names, embarrassing family stories, and my best friend’s therapy sessions have all been sacrificed on the altar of me trying to write a good book.

Yes, nothing is secret in my life, mostly because my life consists of hours huddled over my desk or in my bed pounding away on my laptop, in yesterday’s yoga pants and leopard print slippers. Not really much of an earth-shattering reveal.

But I think most people like the idea of secrets—at least in their fiction they do. Books are riddled with secret babies, secret weddings, secret lovers, and not to mention secret yearnings (my favorite kind). I mean, every romance novel has a secret of some kind and my book TEXAS WIDE OPEN is no exception. There are secret addictions, secret promises, and a secret fiancée…oops I gave too much away, but you catch my drift.

As a writer my life is pretty much an open book, but I do come with a warning: Everything you say or do may be used against you in my next book :)

Tell me a secret (just a little one) in the comments below and you just might win a e-copy of TEXAS WIDE OPEN. (But be very careful, if it is really juicy you may find it in the next book in my series.)

Katie Harris loved growing up on a ranch. She had her horse, the beautiful Texas prairie, and Cole Logan, the cowboy next door. But there are a lot of secrets hidden under a Texas sky…

Katie always knew she’d marry Cole one day—until he broke her dreams and her heart. But now that Katie’s father is sick, she’s back home, older, wiser and nowhere near the love-sick fool she once was.

Cole knows Katie doesn’t want anything to do with him. But after so many years, he can’t pretend she’s no more than a neighbor. Not when thinking about her cherry lip gloss and hell-for-leather passion is keeping him up all night. Holding his ground was hard enough when she was seventeen. Now that she’s her own woman, Cole’s heart doesn’t stand a chance…

Enjoy the special excerpt below:

     Katie watched as Cole slowly turned, and at the sight of his bare chest, smooth and ripped with muscle, she locked her knees to keep upright. Instead of his inviting smile, there was a hardness she rarely saw that contrasted with the desire in his eyes.

     Cole stood and stared. The silence between them crackled as if a whole conversation could be said without words.

     Her breathing quickened as her nipples contracted into small, tight buds, sensitive to the brush of the cotton across them. She refused to hide her body’s reaction even as a flush of heat rushed to her cheeks. She’d been waiting all of her life for this moment. She was tired of hiding. She was ready. Unashamed, she gazed in his eyes and let the wealth of her feelings pour into her face.

     Cole was no coward—he returned stare for stare—but she could see his jaw flex and knew he was pissed. She’d pushed him hard, but this was where the women separated themselves from the girls.

     “I’m not a child any longer.” She took a step closer.

     “And I told you, if you wear that shirt again, I’ll burn it,” he growled.

     But Cole would have to do more than display a little anger to scare her. Before she lost courage, Katie crossed her arms and pulled.

     She threw her shirt in his face, along with her challenge. “Go ahead and do it.”

Thanks KC for being our guest and congrats on the release of Texas Wide Open today!  And I wholeheartedly agree with KC.  I like secrets in fiction, but not in real life, LOL.  I can't wait to see if/when Cole takes Katie up on her challenge :)  They say that everything is bigger in Texas so I have to wonder if the romance is hotter too?

If you'd like to learn more about KC and the books she writes you can find her at her website www.kckleinbooks.com, blog, Facebook, and Twitter.

To celebrate the release of the first book in her Texas Fever series, Texas Wide Open, KC would like to giveaway a digital copy of the book to one lucky Musings follower.  Enter to win using the Rafflecopter form below (comment is mandatory).
