Blog Hop: Who's Your Wicked Lover?

Thursday, May 9

The first BDSM themed fiction book that I read was Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty series.  And I have to say that I struggled with it...big time.  In fact I really hated it and thought it was so demeaning and degrading that at times I had a negative physical reaction to the situations and how they were presented in the book.  The series if fairly well received, but I hated them.  I look back on it now and wonder why I ever finished the trilogy, but I'm like that...once I start a book I feel compelled to finish it.  Needless to say I thought that BDSM romances were not for me after reading those books.

A while after I started hearing about this book called Wicked Ties and how hot it was.  I was just discovering Erotic Romance at the time, and the description intrigued me so I got it, read it, and discovered that I did in fact enjoy BDSM themed romances, especially when they have an alpha hero like Jack Cole.  Jack Cole was my reintroduction to Dominant men in romance and he changed my entire outlook on this sub-genre of romance.

I will forever be grateful to Shayla Black and her hero in Wicked Ties, Jack Cole...because of them and my enjoyment of that book I was willing to give other books with BDSM themed romances a try.  I can't even begin to try and explain the aversion that I had to "those" books after my previous experience with the Sleeping Beauty series, and now I can safely say that some of the best erotic romances as well as some of my favorite authors that I've read have been BDSM themed, and the only reason I experimented with them again was because of Wicked Ties.  That story and those characters truly opened my eyes to the type of intense and loving relationship that can come from that bond.

Thank you Jack Cole....my Wicked Lover from Wicked Ties :)

(Interestingly I wonder what % Jack gets as the favorite Wicked Lover from the blog hop...anyone care to guess?)

Between two brothers…

Xander Santiago spent years living it up as a billionaire playboy. Never given a chance to lead his family business in the boardroom, he became a Master in the bedroom instead. His older brother inherited the company and worked tirelessly to make it an empire. But while the cutthroat corporate espionage took its toll on Javier, nothing was as devastating as the seemingly senseless murder of his wife. It propelled him into a year of punishing rage and guilt…until Xander came to his rescue.

Comes an irresistible woman …

Eager to rejuvenate Javier’s life, Xander shanghais him to Louisiana where they meet the beautiful London McLane. After surviving a decade of tragedy and struggle, London is determined to make a fresh start—and these sexy billionaire brothers are more than willing to help. In every way. And London is stunned to find herself open to every heated suggestion…and desperately hoping that her love will heal them.

And inescapable danger …

But a killer with a hidden motive is watching, on a single-minded mission to destroy everything the Santiago brothers hold dear, especially London. And as fear and desire collide, every passionate beat of her heart could be her last.

The worst thing that happened at my first wedding was aside from being so very young and not having the funds to pay a Photographer my Brother-in-la was given the job of taking our photos. It wasn't until after the reception he told me he had forgotten to put in the film (Polaroid)and he didn't want to upset me but there were no pics. At 18 it was the most horrible thing to have happened to me. :)I'm definitely going to have to read about Jack Cole because so very may women talk about him as their favorite character. Thanks for being part of the Hop.

Obviously Jack Cole is the hottest lover to a great percentage of women when naming their favorite Alpha. :) I'd imagine that underneath that powerful personality lies a heart filled with tenderness. Thanks for the opportunity. I can't wait to read Wicked Lovers and get to know Jack Cole as well.

The best part of our wedding was that it was in my parent's back yard and it was a beautiful day.

My wedding was similar to Maureen's in that our reception was in my parent's yard on a very hot July 4th!

The best part of the wedding was having all my nephews and my niece participate in it!

I can't relate, having never tied the knot, but I have been to some weddings where lots of wonderful crazy things have happened,
This sounds like it is going to be a great read.

Lara Adrian's 'Kiss at Midnight' made me more interested in Vampire & Paranormal stories.

I'm relatively new to romance in general, but I can tell you that Jamie Fraser from 'Outlander' was the character to open my eyes to the romance genre. I loved that book and that character so much that I began reading romance almost exclusively.

Lora Leighs Breed series is what got me interested in erotic romance.

As cheesy as it sounds, 50 shades changed my opinion on BDSM. Though now, after reading more BDSM & Erotica, I realized that 50 shades is pretty off about a lot of things, it still was what helped me get into the genre.

Not really any one book in particular has changed my outlook. I have always been very open minded about just about everything!

I guess just the first romance book I read that got me addicted to romances a few years ago Lynsay Sands' VAMPIRE, INTERRUPTED :)

I read a bit of it all. I really dont have an opinion. Ill just keep studying..and enjoying! hehe

Kamla L. May 12, 2013 at 4:33 AM

I've always been pretty open minded about what I read. I read all the various romance sub-genres. What I like has more to do with the author's writing and the story itself.

It's so funny for a long time I put off reading the This Man series by Jodi Ellan Malpas because people were saying he was violet. When I finally read the book I found out that wasn't true - he was just very passionate and alpha male :)
